Amazon Appstore Finally Available Across Europe

By Simon Thomas on 31st August 2012

Amazon have announced that the Amazon Appstore is finally available across Europe including in the UK.

For a long time there has been some problems with licensing in the UK, but that has now been sorted and users can download from a whole selection of applications, books and movies on their Android devices by downloading the Amazon Appstore application.

However, the news becomes even more significant because it opens up the possiblity for Amazon's Kindle Fire tablet to launch in the UK.

The Amazon Kindle Fire hasn't been available in the UK yet because of the lack of the Amazon Appstore, which is where Amazon make a lot of their profit from sales of the device.

The Kindle Fire is an affordable Android tablet which has been available in the US for sometime and has sold very well. However,  it may never launch in the UK anyway because its successor the Kindle Fire 2 is expected to be unveiled very soon. Infact, Amazon are holding an event on September 6th where they are expected to unveil the Kindle Fire 2 !

We've fallen in love with our Google Nexus 7, but we certainly wouldn't object to another great value Android tablet becoming available in the UK. We'll keep you posted on any new developments as and when we get them !
