Windows Phone Tango Aimed At Affordable Smartphones ?

Windows Phone Tango has been rumoured and speculated online for a while now. Originally , it was thought to be an update to Windows Phone Mango that would launch before Windows Phone 8 hits the market.

However, the latest reports suggest it could be an operating system unrelated to Mango aimed at affordable smartphones. Infact, the operating system is rumoured to be developed in collaboration with Nokia to launch more affordable Windows smartphones.

Even more interesting is that Windows Phone Mango is rumoured to be launching on the Nokia Sea Ray, which is the codename given to the first Nokia smartphone that will launch on the Windows platform. We're not sure what differences there will be between Tango and Mango, but obviously it will have a lower minimum-specification and therefore it's likely to run at a lower resolution.

One worrying piece of information is that it's been suggested that Tango phones will only be available in Asian markets, such as India.

Although, this information suggests that Windows Phone Tango has been produced for Nokia to continue taking advantage of "developing" markets we still expect them to launch fully fledged Windows smartphones running on Windows Phone 7 and 8.

Once we hear any more about Windows Phone Tango you'll be the first to know.
