The Symbian Anna update ,which was announced earlier this year, is now available to download for a number of Nokia smartphones. Those with any of the following smartphones : Nokia N8, Nokia C7, Nokia E7 or the Nokia C6-01 should be able to download the Symbian Anna update now.

Symbian Anna improves on Symbian^3 in a number of ways including the addition of a portrait QWERTY keyboard which makes typing that bit easier. The on-screen keyboard can also now be used in split-screen mode , enabling you to see what your typing and to view another screen at the same time.

The browser is now faster and supports all the recent web-standards and technology. Ovi Maps has also been improved with a better search function and the addition of public transport routes.  Those lucky enough to have a Nokia C7 (pictured above) will now be able to use NFC after updating to Symbian Anna.

Nokia Symbian was "the big hope" for Nokia in the smartphone market before they joined forces with Microsoft. Since the merger it was confirmed that no new Nokia Symbian smartphones will be made, which is a shame because the operating system is very good.
