Motorola have been in the spotlight recently because their mobile division has been taken over by Google. Now they are in the news again because the Motorola Droid HD has been leaked.

The Motorola Droid (pictured above) is a smartphone that launched in the US earlier this year and in the UK as the Motorola Milestone. The Motorola Droid HD is the successor to the original and will launch in the US, but we're unsure whether it'll launch in the UK.

According to the leak the Motorola Droid HD has a 4.5 inch touch-screen running at qHD resolution which should make it a great smartphone for multi-media playback and web-browsing. It's thought to be powered by a 1GHz dual-core processor, has 1GB of ram and an 8 mega-pixel camera. A front-facing camera is also present, but the exact details haven't been leaked.

The Motorola Droid HD runs on Android 2.3, which is the latest version of Google's operating system, and is likely to support 4G in the US and 3G if it launches over here.

The launch date wasn't unveiled so we'll just have to wait for Motorola to confirmthe new smartphone.
