Android To Overtake Apple Into Second Place ?
![]() |
New research conducted by DigiTimes has suggested that Android may well reclaim second place in the mobile operating system market if the predictions are proved correct.
The research suggests that Android phones will have shipped a massive 55 million before the end of the year. The breakdown of which manufacturers have contributed to the massive sales wasnt given, but HTC are one of the major flagbearer for the Android platform.
Nokia will still retain number one position with 35 per cent of the smartphone market through its Symbian platform, while Android are expected to overtake Apple into third place. BlackBerry are still holding onto the fourth spot.
We think Android are doing very well and with Googles amazing power in electronics we can only see it improving. Windows will be hoping to make some impact over the next 12 months with the launch of Windows Phone 7 and it'll be intersting to see how that works out.
