Sony Ericsson Satio Incoming !
26th August, 2009
Europe : Sony Ericsson’s new “flagship” mobile the Satio will be launching worldwide from October.
Sony Ericsson has been hit hard by the recent economic downturn and they need the Satio to boost its fortunes. It’s one of the only phones Sony Ericcson have launched without a letter and number combination name (i.e. W905) and suggests a move towards a heavy marketing strategy for the device.
The phone itself runs on the Symbian S60 5th Edition operating system which provides a power-packed base for the phone to accommodate its advance functionality and software.
The Satio features a whopping 12MP camera, which like all Sony Ericsson cameras will be of the highest quality. Once you’ve captured your snap you can view it on the 3.5 inch widescreen display which has a resolution of 640*360 pixels. The accelerometer will always ensure your display rotates when you rotate the phone providing easy switching to and from landscape and portrait views.
It would seem the Satio will have a heavy multi-media bias and will no doubt be competing head to head with the iPhone 3GS and Nokia N97.
The Satio comes with aGPS for your navigational needs, which takes advantage of the phone’s touch screen capability to make usage even easier. In any case, the QWERTY keyboard is always there to fallback on!
In terms of network capabilities the phone is 3G capable and supports Wi-Fi so you can still use all your favourite hotspots to browser the internet on the Satio’s webkit browser.
MicroSD storage is off course featured and the device can be able to run full 3D Opengl games such as Quake3 Arena, which will no doubt become available from Sony Ericsson’s Playnow arena.
Once further details including exact release dates, price and network availability become available we’ll be sure to let you know.
