UK : Samsung have released a musical application called Caxixi.  The application was produced for Samsungs Windows Mobile Phones such as the Omnia.

Caxixi plays percussion sounds when you shake your Samsung Mobile, with different gesturers achieving different sounds and instruments.

However, the device is more than just a simple instrument tool and also features a studio. The studio enables you to arrange your tracks, add backing tracks and mix them together. The completed “music” can then be sent to others or used as your ringtone.

Some of the instruments featured are listed below:

  • CAXIXI - A Brazilian shaker instrument
  • CABASA - Loops of steel chain wrapped around a cylinder with a handle.
  • MARACAS - A Puerto Rican instrument
  • TAMBOURINE - A metal frame holding several small metal jingles
  • CASTANET - Concave shells that can be hit to produce a clicking sound
  • BONGO - A pair of small open-ended Latin-American drums
  • SNARE - A drum with tightly-stretched metal strands stretched across the bottom

More about the software, including a demo can be viewed below.
