Samsung Galaxy S5 first day sales break Galaxy S4's previous record

Samsung Galaxy S5

The Samsung Galaxy S5 went on sale on Friday and first day sales have broken all of Samsung's previous records.

The smartphone, which went on sale in 125 countries, has eclipsed launch days of the Galaxy S4 by a whopping 30 per cent. That's even more impressive when you consider that the Galaxy S4 was previously the record holder for first day sales.

Samsung would apparently have been able to sell even more Galaxy S5's had stock not depleted in a number of key markets.

Over the next week the smartphone will go on to launch in a further 25 countries which will only boost sales further. Can the Galaxy S5 continue to break records, or will the impending launch of the Xperia Z2 hinder its sales somewhat?

We've just posted our review of the Samsung Galaxy S5 and we're very impressed by Samsung's latest creation. Our only fears are that it doesn't look quite as good as some of its rivals, such as the iPhone 5S and HTC One M8.
