Samsung To Launch Windows 8 Smartphone This Year

The Korean division of Samsung have confirmed that the company will be launching a Windows Phone 8 powered smartphone in 2012. Windows Phone 8 is the successor to Windows Phone 7 and is due to launch in October.

The new operating system, which has been code-named Apollo, will add support for quad-core processors and much higher display resolutions. This will be a big plus for Windows smartphones as it will enable them to compete with the new power-house mobiles already available , such as the HTC One X.

Two other huge improvements that will be brought by Windows Phone 8 are support for microSD cards , as well as the addition of NFC. The lack of microSD support has been the major criticism aimed at the Windows Phone operating system and its good to see Microsoft listening to users complaints.

Microsoft are also aiming to make Windows Phone 8 as similar to the desktop version as possible which will enable close collaboration between smartphones, laptops , tablets and desktop PC's.

At the current time we don't have any information about Samsung's Windows Phone 8 smartphone, but as soon as we hear any information we'll let you know.
