Symbian Anna is the latest  software release for Nokia's Symbian OS ( operating system ). The first two Nokia smartphones to come with Symbian Anna are the Nokia X7 and the Nokia E6 which were both announced this week.

The improvements include a faster browser which is easier to use, improved text input, new icons and the latest version of Ovi Maps is included. A Nokia video below shows more.

There is a split screen which helps when entering text into web pages etc and a portrait QWERTY input mode. The usability of the photo gallery has been made slicker.

Business users benefit from email improvements that include full meeting request support, instant messaging via Microsoft Communicator Mobile and more.

Nokia say that Nokia N8, C7, C6-01 and E7 will get Symbian Anna in the coming months.
