Google Hits 3 Billion Android App Downloads

3G recently reported that over 350,000 Android phones are being activated a day and now Google confirm it has achieved 3 Billion app downloads from Android Market since it opened. This was revealed via the company's quarterly earnings call.
The figure reflects a 50% increase in Android app downloads since the last quarter of 2010 i.e. a 50% increase in 12 months.
The app billionaire battle continues to develop and it should be noted that the Apple App Store has achieved 10 billion downloads and is still the leader of the pack.
Coupled with the ever increasing demand for iPad apps, we hear at 3G, don't see Apple being overtaken by Android for some time.
