Apple Preparing iPhone With 3D Camera ?

Apple

The latest patent file to the US Patent and Trademark Office show that Apple have sent an application for 3D picture taking.

The application suggests that they may be working on putting a 3D camera into its smartphone or tablet range and it's remotely possible the next iPhone could feature the technology. However, it's more likely Apple is in the research stage and we'll see 3D technology on the iPhone 6.

Obviously, if you are going to have a 3D camera you will have a 3D screen on the device. An iPhone with a 3D screen is certainly a mouth-watering concept.

The patent application itself is for "Systems and Methods for an Image System Using Mutiple Image Sensors" and was spotted by the guys over at AppleInsider.com. Apparently, this approach differs from the usual software approach to 3D and attempts to produce 3D images purely with hardware.

Once we hear more about 3D on Apple devices we'll let you know.
