Sharp Announce 3D Touchscreen Technology

Sharp has announced that it has developed a new 3D touch-screen LCD, which is perfect for us in mobile phones.
The new 3D LCD uses what’s called a parallax barrier to display 3D images, which basically means it uses vertical slits to control the path of lighting reaching your right and left eyes. It also means you don't need to wear any goofy looking glasses to view the 3D.
The new 3D LCD technology can easily switch between displaying 2D and 3D images. It features high brightness and low crosstalk, which is where images overlap on the left and right images, due to advanced in silicon technology.
Amazingly, the new 3D LCD is about the same thickness as conventional displays which will mean portability won’t suffer.
When this technology first ships it will no doubt add a premium to any mobile featuring its technology but we sure look forward to its arrival.
It’s thought that Sharp will start mass producing 3D LCDs in the 3rd Quarter of 2010.
