Fennec Web Browser for Android Devices

Android smartphone users will be pleased and cautious to hear that the Fennec mobile web browser has been released for the Android operating system.

Mozilla, the builders of the Fennec web browser, say that this is an early pre-alpha version of Fennec.

Mozilla say that its Fennec mobile web browser should work on any Android handset with Android 2.0 or higher but have confirmed that to-date its only been tested on the Google Nexus One and the Motorola Droid.

Additionally, Mozilla has released Weave for Android. Weave is a syncing program which can be used in conjunction with Fennec.

To download Fennec for Android 2.0 or higher head here and follow the instructions - here - then download it using your phone's browser, and then click on it in the downloads list to install it.

Some conditions apply to the successful download and installation of the browser as follows :

- This build requires Android 2.0 or above, and likely an OpenGL ES 2.0 capable device.
- Memory usage of this build isn't great. This could cause some problems with large pages, especially on low memory devices like the Droid.
- Bugs might cause your phone to stop responding, requiring a reboot.
- Edit: This build must be installed to internal memory, not to a SD card.
