Industry-First Integrated Video Test for 3G Networks

6th April, 2005 ( see below for all today's 3G news )

US : Tektronix, Inc. announced the broad and innovative range of new video test, monitoring and measurement products the company will feature at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) 2005 Conference, April 18-21 in Las Vegas. Tektronix' (Booth C6231) newest products demonstrate the company's continued development of multi-format, multi-layer test and measurement capabilities supporting the broadest range of international standards.

Industry First Real-Time Fault Finder for Compressed Video

The MTS400 Series Compressed Video Test System provides the unique CaptureVu(TM) ability to automatically monitor, analyze and debug live and deferred time video transport streams. The MTS400 Series also provides the highest performance analysis engine on the market, along with real time Video over IP monitoring, analysis and recording support for broadband video and Video on Demand applications. For the first time, broadcasters, network operators and equipment manufacturers can rapidly gain insight into intermittent system faults that directly impact broadcast quality and time to market.

Most Complete RF Interfaces for MPEG Monitor

With expanded radio frequency (RF) input options, the MTM400 MPEG Transport Stream Monitor now supports RF monitoring and testing for virtually all of the globally deployed DTV RF modulation schemes. A variety of different RF interfaces allows direct monitoring of signal quality, eliminating the need for a separate RF demodulator/analyzer. The MTM400 allows operators to easily and cost effectively perform rapid multilayer (RF and MPEG) fault detection and diagnostics, minimizing downtime, improving the reliability of networks and reducing or redirecting capital expenditure that would otherwise be allocated to multi unit solutions.

WVR7100 Rasterizer Offers Monitoring for Dolby(R) Audio Products

Tektronix recently offered significant upgrades for its successful WVR7100 HD Rasterizer including the addition of Dolby E and Dolby Digital (AC-3) capabilities to meet the demands of broadcast and post-production applications. With the WVR7100 HD, the combination of high-definition (HD), standard definition (SD) and composite video, as well as analog, digital, Dolby Digital and Dolby E audio inputs can all be monitored from a single, convenient 1 RU form factor. The new audio monitoring capabilities enable operators to easily decode and monitor digital audio that ensures quality signals from the broadcasters to the viewers without the need for an external decoder.

New WVR6100 SD Rasterizer

The new WVR6100 SD Rasterizer base unit provides the same capabilities and reliability found in the WVR600 Series Rasterizers including the simplified user interface and the powerful, flexible FlexVu(TM) display with added capabilities for Closed Caption Decode and Display, Safe Action/Safe Title graticules, optimized Dolby Digital and Dolby E capabilities and remote front panel.

The WVR7100 and WVR6100 provide multi-format environments -- composite, SD, and HD video and/or analog, digital, Dolby Digital and Dolby E audio -- with a cost effective and easy-to-use monitoring tool that enables them to ensure production and broadcast of quality content that adheres to legal broadcast specifications.

Tektronix MTX100 Adds new Scheduler and Trigger Capture Functionality

The MTX100 Player and Recorder captures and plays out MPEG-2 data streams at the high data rates needed to verify and troubleshoot designs for high-performance consumer and professional video products and systems. It is equipped with features to help reduce manufacturers' development expenses by addressing requirements in functional verification, conformance verification and stress testing. With new software (version 5.1), the Scheduler function provides an extra degree of control and flexibility within development and manufacturing environments, or for pre-encoded transport streams for testing broadcast transmissions. The Scheduler application can either be installed and run locally on the MTX100 or installed on a remote PC controlling the MTX100 over a network.

The expanded MTX100 also includes a remote triggering capability. When used in conjunction with the MTM400 MPEG Transport Stream Monitor, this system can be configured to trigger on a fault condition detected by the MTM400 and initiate recording of the stream on the MTX100.

Industry-First Integrated Video Test for 3G Networks

The new K15 version 2.1 for Tektronix' market leading wireless network monitoring platform provides the ability to analyze H.324M video telephony quality of service by monitoring the UMTS core network IU-CS interface. Customers are able to obtain deeper video quality analysis by sharing the video files with the Tektronix MTS4EA Elementary Stream Analyzer to investigate and analyze compressed video data.

The K15 version 2.1 is able to display all video telephony calls going in a live 3G mobile network. Customers are able to select H.324M video calls on the IU-CS interface, calculate key performance indicators (KPIs) and extract the voice/video stream of each H.324M video call. The data can be loaded into a Tektronix MTS4EA elementary video stream analysis tool for complete Video Quality of Service (VQoS) analysis.
