AlphaCell
Enables Powerful 3D Wireless Gaming |
|
15th April 2003 |
Israel
: Fathammer and AlphaCell announced a licensing agreement that will
bring a console quality gaming experience to the AlphaCell M5 mobile
handset. The agreement means that any network operator working with
AlphaCell will be able to offer its customers a smartphone providing
an enhanced 3D gaming experience. The AlphaCell M5 can be specifically adapted for entertainment and gaming. It features a large 65,000 colour screen, a powerful 144Mhz processor and four programmable soft keys and micro-joystick located around the screen. The deal with Fathammer exploits this gaming capability and takes the mobile gaming experience to new levels. It enables game developers and publishers who choose to launch advanced mobile games on the M5 to use Fathammer's industry leading X-Forge(tm) 3D Game Engine Software Development Kit (SDK). Optimised interfaces based on X-Forge will be embedded into the handset, maximising the performance of rich-graphic games while guaranteeing a minimum memory footprint. As part of the deal, Fathammer is also offering full support to companies and publishers developing 3D games for the AlphaCell M5, in order to make the process more efficient. Furthermore, Fathammer's recently launched games division Vasara Games is providing AlphaCell with two exciting 3D games for the M5. The games, Stuntcar Extreme(tm) and Geopod(tm), take advantage of the gaming-friendly design of the M5. The games can be tailored to include features that will generate traffic on wireless networks, allowing the new M5 handset, which will work on GPRS networks worldwide, to offer the most up-to-date gaming, multimedia and personal information management software. Tsion Gonen, VP Marketing and Sales at AlphaCell, said: "Gaming is the next big thing for mobile phones. When you combine the Fathammer engine with the M5, a device specifically set up for an optimum gaming experience, you get an undeniably powerful product and user experience. We are talking proper gaming and playability on an unprecedented level." Fredrik Kekäläinen, Fathammer's Chief Technology Officer, added: "We are excited to be working alongside AlphaCell to bring advanced gaming to the M5 smartphone. The design of the M5 and its powerful processor make it perfectly suited to playing console quality 3D games that really push the existing boundaries of mobile gaming." |
