Standard sizes for tablet screens are seven-inch and ten-inch – LG launched its first tablet with an 8.9-inch inbetweener size, and squeezed in a 3D camera as well. As with most manufacturers covered in this section, LG used the Android operating system, launching its Optimus Pad with Android 2.2 – though current sales models will sell with the newer (but non-tablet-optimised) Android 2.3.
Since its release in June 2011, LG has cut the price of the Optimus Pad, but no future tablets have been announced. Instead, LG appears to be focusing on its 3G smartphones, with several Android 3G phones announced at a range of price points.
