Google’s open-source operating system has been racking up version upgrades like it’s going out of fashion, to the extent that Android actually split into two streams – one for 3G phones and one for tablets. At the moment, only the highest-end 3G phones run on Android Ice Cream Sandwich, with most smartphones running on Android 2.3 Gingerbread. A few tablets, most notably from Asus and Samsung, have launched with Ice Cream Sandwich, with the majority of available tabs packing version 3.0 Honeycomb.
