Depending on the definition of a tablet, computer manufacturer Dell released the first Android tablet. This five-inch 3G tablet ran on the second version of Android, 1.6 Donut, and received mixed mobile reviews for being a large phone rather than a small tablet.

Although not a prolific manufacturer of tablets, Dell released a few subsequent versions of the Streak tablet, including a seven-inch version, all running on Android operating system. 2012 hasn’t seen any Dell tablets, but the manufacturer is said to be joining forces with Microsoft to release 3G tablets that run on the incoming Windows 8 operating system.
