Huawei E160 T-Mobile Web'n'Walk Error 720

Hi I'm new to the forum and I am having a problem with my niece's laptop.
She has a Huawei E160 T-Mobile USB stick on Web'n'Walk. When trying to connect she gets "Error 720 A connection to the remote computer could not be established. You might need to change the network settings for this connection" I have uninstalled the software and reinstalled again have even upgraded the software on the stick to no avail.
Apparently it worked until she uninstalled AVG.
Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Can you check the profile is setup correctly, the APN should be general.t-mobile.uk

Re: Huawei E160 T-Mobile Web'n'Walk Error 720

If its xp, goto RUN, type cmd to open dos, at the command line type the following

netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt

and reboot your machine

On vista goto CMD on accesories, right click on CMD and select Run as administrator, type the same command then reboot your computer.

The ip stack is corrupted or missing which is one of many reasons why you get this error, also tcp/ip may not be installed but this is most unlikelly

Can I echo that? I got the same error after installing a freebie upgrade to AVG 8.5, and the suggested solution worked for me. Thanks very much!

Re: Huawei E160 T-Mobile Web'n'Walk Error 720

I have problem updating antivirus programs like avg. I can install ok but updates always fail. so database is outdated making the program presumably pointless.

I tried what was posted above. any tips to try and get it to update, the ones they give are like open up ports but i'm pretty certain you cannot manually open ports with e160 or any mobile modem.

thanks

Re: Huawei E160 T-Mobile Web'n'Walk Error 720

Error 720 is an error on T-Mobile's part. Phone up and ask for a full HLR refresh to be performed and your problem is solved. This is nothing to do with anti-virus or local applications.

Re: Huawei E160 T-Mobile Web'n'Walk Error 720

what do you suggest is missing on there location profile that refreshing it resolves the issue? if it's known by t-mobile there isn't any reference to the error code by there support teams or help pages. Microsoft accept the error code relates to TCP so what are t- mobile hiding?

If someone is telling you they don't know error 720 they're wrong. it is an error with the manager im assuming? If so, i saw it on the technical TDMS merlin (the information site) that it's an issue with NAM locations for HLR, which can only be fixed by a 24 hour refresh on your account.

Monkey Col is right as it's on there as a suggested resolution for error 720 . Do you look at those pages regularly or do you just get info from someone?

although why it's on there I don't know plus error 720 is normally resolved with the netsh command as you mentioned (which was once on there but hasn't been for a while now)

not true, and also nothing to do with the manager either

720 error directly relates to a TCP/IP stack problem

NAM locations have no bearer on this particular error message, 720 is related to windows itself.

you would get a 619 error if the NAM/GPRS was not enabled, and even at that its usually down to it not been active on the account itself.

i would say about 60-70% of all "full refreshes" on accounts are un-needed, typical done by CS, manila in particular who seem to think "this fixes everything"

for example: CUST: " my fone is not turning on"
ADVISOR: "give me 2 tics i will put through a full refresh, try that now"

lol

if the HLR is fine, there is absolutely no need for a "refresh" to be done at all.

then again, this is all down to bad training/communication on TMob part.

that just shows you how good service design are with them having that as a fix haha

i would say the 720 NETSH fix should have remained on merlin as it has good potential for a fix.

T-mob removed it as looking for fixes for 720(and there are a few) tends to go down a more IT support path and they dont want us doing that.

so customers are now told to contact microsoft themselves because there systems are ****ed

The HLR is not the only system involved in the provisioning chain which is in the critical data setup path, so your statement is incorrect.
