Re: Kaiser on 3 Network...need help with Skype
thanks for the reply afiman
yes fully closed with task manager sometimes soft reset .to be honest what you created is fine,I have no problems uninstaling each time.I have tried your newly posted jbed and although its quicker responding the same problem arrises.I have not tried the other version of skype cannot get to page server busy or pda won't allow. I will continue to try though and will post back any news. what I think might be the problem for me is its an old tynt and the processes maybe a little too greedy for the memory, but like I said thank you for a great job in posting your knowledge+ help and a simple uninstall then reinstall is not too much of a hardship |

Re: Kaiser on 3 Network...need help with Skype
Thanks therafiman, your settings for the user agent were brilliant. I'm running WM6 on a Tytn and have found some software that makes it easy to change the user agent in Internet Explorer to the 910i as you suggested.
My original user agent was Xda_trion;240x320 but I changed it to SonyEricssonW910i/R1CA029 as you suggested and now not only can I get to Planet 3 but all the other tabs work fine. Previously it wouldn't let me go there. The software is called Advanced Configuration Tool version 2.02.0.2.0 by Schaps. It's free but he takes Paypal donations, and well worth it in my view. Download here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=317070 Apparently it can/will be translated into other languages (see this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?p=1905058) Hope this helps. Re: Kaiser on 3 Network...need help with Skype
Hi All,
Thanks for all the help in this thread. I can confirm that I too have got Skype working on my non 3 Kaiser with this method. Let me try to clear up a little confusion first. It does indeed make a standard call when you make a Skype call, but this does not come out of your allowance. I can confirm this by playing with it extensively last night and checking my 3 PAYG balance it does not reduce. I must have made 20+ calls testing it and my balance remained the same. So unless I'm missing something, calls the the number that Skype dials(providing you have topped up on PAYG and can see the Free Skype calls on My3, or they are inclusive on your contract) are free. Anyone else have problems launching Skype from JBed Midlet at all? I've seen comments about exiting, but its a job to get it running the first time. Just gets stuck on the running man. Eventually I manage to get it to fire up, but after a good number of tries. |

Re: Kaiser on 3 Network...need help with Skype
I'm using a cab file called "Identify as N95 (WM6.1)" that does all that (with limitations like if you want to download a messanger it will bring up the jar simbian version)... but now that now that kaiser is avalable on three is it possible to have a cab file called "Identify as kaiser (WM6.1)...? I would need it for my closer enough hermes though! can anybody modify an xml file for the tytn I/1?

Re: Kaiser on 3 Network...need help with Skype
Hi, I have just bought an unlocked mda vario II but am having trouble connecting to three’s internet. Please would you be able to talk me through the steps to fake the user-agent and get on to the three sites.
I would really really appreciate it. Thanks |

Re: Kaiser on 3 Network...need help with Skype
I suspect your device is identifying itself as a Vario rather than HTC Tytn II. Does going to mobile.three.co.uk/hb/vtb/HutchKey just take you to the standard Three site?
There are plenty of other options including the N95 cab mentioned previously as well as Sony Ericsson w910I useragent, but as three now support TyTN II, might as well go with that. Last edited by 8eaker : 06-05-2008 at 08:51 PM. |

Re: Kaiser on 3 Network...need help with Skype
Thanks 8eaker!! I will definitely try that.
At the moment I can only use the wi-fi connection as my Vario is setup for t-mobile i.e web ‘n’ walk. If I do the above will it allow me to connect to the internet via GPRS (three’s internet) or do I have to set this up separately? By any chance do you know how to do this? Thanks for your help! |

Re: Kaiser on 3 Network...need help with Skype
you should be able to set up three internet with the connection wizard under settings, connections. just run it and it should offer up config for H3G. select it and follow instructions

Re: Kaiser on 3 Network...need help with Skype
Bod
Make sure you also set up the access to Three.co.uk under your APN settings otherwise you won't be able to use Three's 3g (UMTS or HSDPA) or gprs services. If you haven't done it yet, I've replied to your other post request for help on changing the User Agent. Cheers Colin |

Re: Kaiser on 3 Network...need help with Skype
Seems this thread's moved along while i've been gone.
@digitaly: You don't need another xml file. Did you try just uninstalling the cab file? @OnOffPT and @LordLucan: There is no 3 version of skype for wlm. That's the point of this thread. I was surprised the Tytn II was even released on 3, and I really don't see them making a WLM version of Skype for it. Not any time soon anyway, they might adapt the java version instead. |

Re: Kaiser on 3 Network...need help with Skype
Hi,
I have installed the java version from other fone (SE P1i) and it worked with some additional tweaks. Check the xda-developers forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=366197 I was able to login with the 3UK skype version on my TYTN II using the original java machine despite some problems to type the username and password (must be typed with the hardware keyboard). I did not tested it doing a call but I was able to login successfully. If there is anyone interested, just ask. |

Re: Kaiser on 3 Network...need help with Skype
I have installed one CAB to change the device identification to N95 (accepted by 3UK).
Take a look at this URL: http://www.modaco.com/index.php?act=...f=312&t=263056 There is no touch screen support. Maybe you can write your login info with copy and paste, otherwise I believe you can just search for the files where he stores the login and password using a file manager and edit it with a text editor to write them outside of the program. Just for the record: I haven't tested any Skype call using this method. Just have done a successful login. I will try it later and post here. --------------- User Agent: Did not changed anything, but you can check this link: http://www.3g.co.uk/3GForum/showthre...t=71282&page=2 Last edited by OnOffPT : 11-07-2008 at 09:23 AM. Re: Kaiser on 3 Network...need help with Skype
That cab file changes the user agent, i already have it. If no touchscreen support then i'll stick with the java version, which i've already linked to on this thread, works fine for me. I don't get how you used the N95 version from 3's site though...isn't that written for Symbian?

Hi,
I have tested some skype calls and IT WORKS great, making and receiving. To find the correct Skype version check the following URL. http://www.modaco.com/index.php?act=...f=312&t=263056 After installing the Skype on your pda, you can try to run it and you will find that you will not be able to login sucessfully due to the fact that your device is not allowed to use such service (at least my TYTN II did not worked straight away). To overcome this problem I used a CAB from the following website to identify the TYTN II as a N95 such that the operator thinks that I am using an allowed device. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=366197 Finally you just need to input your login and password in the java version of skype which is easy if you have a hardware keyboard as my TYTN II. |

Hi therafiman,
Maybe I've got lost wondering around so many forums, so sorry if I have done something wrong. I do not want to take your credits. I just wanted to make a full post with the solutions that I have found that worked for me because I haven't found any full post with something that solved my problems. The best would be to post everything in a single post, all files and procedure, such that everyone that has the same problem can solve it easily without jumping from forum to forum, but without removing their sources and credits. I suggest it to you if you want. Thanks for all your help ![]() peace P.S. - I just realised now that you are the author of the modaco forum (GOOD WORK and thank you for your files) Last edited by OnOffPT : 13-07-2008 at 11:12 PM. Re: Kaiser on 3 Network...need help with Skype
Hi all,
You may have noticed that the old ISkoot Three Skype client is no longer working as its forcing an upgrade to 2.0.40 client. I have managed to download the jad and jar after a bit of a struggle (TyTN II won't save it, just launches JBED before I'm able to remove the trusted line) and made the same mod. It installs ok and seems to work on calls - with the test service anyway. Haven't yet tried Skype chat that has been introduced. |

Re: Kaiser on 3 Network...need help with Skype
Annuntio vobis gaudium magnum
(I have great and joyous news) I believe that I have succeeded in getting the native Iskoot WM6 client for Skype to connect to the Three/3 service. I am still testing it and would appreciate your feedback. Steps a) Download and install the Iskoot client for Windows Mobile 6 . Try the direct link here (http://www.iskoot.com/pc_download/Wi...1.54_WMpro.CAB) b) After installation, start the application, but DO NOT sign in. Instead exit it. The reason for doing this is to create the default registry entries for Iskoot. c) Now start your favourite registry editor (I personally use Resco Registry Editor, but you should be able to use any. Please do not ask me how to use the registry editor. This is not the appropraite forum.) d) Head for the following location in the registry: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\ISKOOT\SKYPE\DEVICE e) Update all the following entries to the same value "http://mobile.three.co.uk/948" (do not include the "double quotes") BackupHost CallUrl DefaultSkHost Pushhost f) Exit the registry editor of choice and start and log into Iskoot. This might take some time. It took me about five minutes. It should now be configured to connect to the 3 Skype service. To cross-verify, check that the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\ISKOOT\SKYPE\DEVICE\Cal lNumber has the value +447838333894 (the 3 Skype dial-out number). It should be automatically added by the software. As I have mentioned earlier, I am still testing this. However, with this implementation, it should not use your included minutes, but the free Skype allocation. Please test the same and let us all know if that is the case or you have noticed that your inclusive minutes have been used up. I do not know how to modify cabs. But if somebody can rebuild the original Iskoot cab with these settings built-in, that would be great. I have noticed that the sound quality on this is considerably better as compared to the Skype Java client. Legalese: The above is merely advisory and there is no warranty, implied or otherwise, for the same. |

Re: Kaiser on 3 Network...need help with Skype
Secret.Simon, you are a genius! Followed your instructions and appears to be working without reducing my payg credit.
Couple of things: I didn't have a Pushhost entry before signing in, but it created one and entered http://skype40.three.co.uk:8880 automatically. Initially the callNumber was 123, but has now been set to +447838333892 which seems remarkably close to one I noted before which was +447838333893. The fact it didn't reduce my credit and its normally quite quick to show credit deducted for calls is promising. One point to note, it appears that the client does some password validation where my account password has an _ in it, this client doesn't like it and reports an invalid password. Haven't confirmed if Skype Chat works yet as my other contacts are off line (I'll PM you my skype name Simon in case you want to try it) recently introduced by Three, but did manage to send a 'hello' to the skype testing service. All in all, this is much better than the Skype java client from the W910i even though the new one I posted about earlier does fit the TYTN II screen now. Thanks very much for sharing your efforts. Darn, doesn't seem to be a private message option to send you my skype name. Post a reply if you want to try it and we'll find a way to exchange skype names without publishing it to the masses ;-) Last edited by 8eaker : 11-09-2008 at 02:58 PM. |

Re: Kaiser on 3 Network...need help with Skype - PLEASE
Hi 8eaker...
I'm trying also to get 3UK Skype client working on a HTC Trinity... ...I am having trouble downloaded the latest Skype 2.0.40...as like you I was going to attempt the mod that Rafiman did at the beginning of this year!!! ...I noticed you managed to get it to work after downloading it successfully!!! I was wondering could you post the .jar and .jad files (I could do the editing myself - or you could send all the non-edited & edited files). NOTE: I have also tried secret.simon method of installing iSkoot and changing the registry values - but I always get a "Cannot Connect" error... I never got a "PushHost" field created - so I even created that myself... ...the only thing I can think of is that I am still running WM5...and I think he says the version of iSkoot is meant for WM6 - although I don't know if this affects whether i can connect succesfully or not!!! So I would appreciate it so so so very much if you could perhaps post it or email the .jad & .jar files!!! Please message me if you need my email to do this. Your help is much appreciated - as I've spent so much time already trying to get 3 UK's skype service on my HTC Trinity (P3600i)... ![]() |

Re: Kaiser on 3 Network...need help with Skype
Koo-san.
odd about ISkoot client, but maybe it is something to do with WM5. Is there not a WM5 Iskoot client on the link provided by Simon? Can't seem to find a PM option, so will try to attach files to this forum this evening. I managed to download them by connecting my phone to pc and tethering. Modify the User agent of Firefox on the PC to SonyEricsson W910i and going to the download link. That then gave me the option to Save the JAD file. Then modify the link to change jad to jar to get the corresponding jar file. |
