Exclamation Mislead on Upgrade - Is this no. Vodaphone? - 08080 000 144

My contract is due for renewal shortly and i was contacted by Vodaphone who offered me a 10% discount and a new D900 phone.

I advised i would have a think about it and they said they would call back. I missed the call back call so phoned 191 to accept the upgrade.

When i called back the "Save Team" advised thast they had no log of the call and that they couldnt offer me the 10% discount of the phone for free. (Effectively calling me a liar when i said that i had received this offer from them already)

The number that called me with the original offer was 08080 000 144. The save team said that i was probably called by another compnay and would not look into this number to see if it is Vodaphone. When i call this number is goes through to an answerphone which states it is vodaphone.

Another case of Vodaphone offering an upgrade and then goign back on the offer.

Does anyone know if this number is a vodaphone number? If i can trace the number and find out who offered me the deal i`ll probably stay with them, but if not i`m off to T mobile who can offer the same deal with free phone.

Thanks

I believe this is a scam. I receive several calls from this number a day. I would take Vodafone at their word when they say they never made the offer you speak of. If you have given any personal information (e.g. address, date-of-birth) to these callers you should explain the situation to Vodafone immediately

last year voda rang me too - offered a retention deal - then when i called back to confirm they had no knowledge - or as you say, denied it.

so i voted with my wallet and left - not doing business with people like that thanks
