Help - my music library has mysteriously disappeared … the music is still there and if I go to the file manager I can play each track individually but when I go into music player there’s absolutely nothing there. I’ve refreshed it but it makes no difference.
Has anyone seen this problem and how do I fix it? Thanks in advance. |

Re: Music Library - where's it gone
That should work.
If not then go in an manually delete the music database (it will create another one when you power on and off). 1) From file manager FIND In HDD Find Text: add in system. This will bring up a folder that has the system files. You will see Apps, data and temp folders Go into data and delete the MG2 folder (this has the databases on the HDD). On power up these are recreated. Power the device on and off. music |

Re: Music Library - where's it gone
OK - so I've run the *#7370# with no luck and I've spent an hour searching for System, Apps and MG2 also with no luck. Music files are still there but I still can't see them in the music player.
Any other ideas guys? |

Re: Music Library - where's it gone
Hi
Did you do this Go to filemanager (filing cabinet icon) Move joystick to switch to HDD tab Select Options Select Find Select HDD memory Type in system in "Find Text" field See the system folder then see data folder In fact you can erase the whole data folder You can also use your PC and USB mass storage to see it If that doesn't work then you can try 1) The three finger hard reset (see tips again) 2) Update to 2.10 sw good luck |

Re: Music Library - where's it gone
OK - so I tried all the suggestions here but unfortunately nothing made any difference. Yesterday I got so pi**ed of I formatted the hard disk and reloaded all my tracks again. It worked fine for a few hours then the wonderful N91 turned itself off and when I turned it back on guess what, no track library !!!!!
Anyway, this time when I did Refresh Library it did it properly and brought them all back ….. have to wait a while to see if this is a hardware fault of just more bugs in the firmware. Have to say I’m getting more and more irritated by all the bugs in this phone. |

Re: Music Library - where's it gone
Here are some tips
http://www.ohgizmo.com/2006/10/19/to...our-nokia-n91/ Also it seems now Nokia has released Tips of their own for the N91 and N91 8GB http://europe.nokia.com/A4158098 http://europe.nokia.com/A4213023 Just choose english language from drop down menu. Maybe something went wonly when you updated the sw and you may have to start clean all over again? music |

Re: Music Library - where's it gone
Yes - I tried all the suggestions above, nothing worked. Thr music seems to be OK for now but yesterday it went and wiped out all of my radio settings.
This is without doubt the worst Nokia I've ever bought!!!! |

Re: Music Library - where's it gone
Hi
The HDD is physically okay (since you can read it with Gallery before)...and You have said you basically followed all the procedures. You formattted fully the HDD, you reflashed the phone, you loaded back you HDD remembering to install all applications from scratch again, you followed the official HDD guide from Nokia (including whatmemeoy to use for messaging, thesmes etc).. etc and it doesnt work? You must have missed something. music101 |

Re: Music Library - where's it gone
Hi
When you say it lost your library twice - Do you mean your Music library say sno songs and that you had to refresh it twice? Also what sequence led to this. I have a feeling there is something that you are doing that erases these? Also do you have applications that you bought installed? Are you connecting via USB MS to the PC? DO you always use the little ICON on your desktop toolbar to disconnect the N91? USB MS in general can be fussy about disconnects while data is flowing (MTP with WMP is more robust using error correction) music |

Re: Music Library - where's it gone
OK - so the story from the beginning ... never had a problem with playing music until about 3 weeks ago. Then suddenly on the way to work listing the phone turns itself off. When I turn it back on all the music library has disappeared. Can still see and play the tracks through file manager but nothing would bring the library. Tried deleting the d/b and all the other suggestions with no luck.
Finally I did the *#7370# cleanup, formatted the HDD and re-copied all the tracks back onto the phone through Media Player (in Media Player mode). All worked fine for a week. Then exactly the same thing happened again ... phone turned itself off, etc etc and another few hours lost in recovering it all over again. Music all playing OK now and I find a few days ago all my radio channels have disappeared. There were no 3rd party apps installed at the time although I've now installed Opera mini. Connecting via USB cable and yes I use the disconnect icon. |

Re: Music Library - where's it gone
Hi
Hmmm. What rate do you rip your songs at. The N91 is onlt spec'd to really support 256Kbpe or less MP3. 320 Kbps may work but not guaranteed. Im wondering if when the device hiccups it is having issues decoding a high bit rate song or an actual corrupt song. What is strange is that the Music Library DB is one thing but the Radio station settings as far as Mman stated a while back are simple values set in Flash memory and have nothing to do with the Music player etc. Weird music101 |

Re: Music Library - where's it gone
Hi
One other thing. DO you typically save alot to phone c drive (ROM) - download stuff, keep alot of sms and emails there etc. They hint in the tips that erratic and slow behaviour, "delete data" etc is a result f memory getting filled up (hidden files etc). This may be also an issue and over time your ROM c drive fills up and the erratic behaviour starts music |

Re: Music Library - where's it gone
I suggest you use Mass Storage mode to transfer music via Windows Media Player 10 or 11. Dont use Media Player mode.
Make sure you let it transfer the files as it wants to.....don't transfer the files to a folder you want. DON NOT install any applications onto the hard drive. Never do that. The hard drive is only optimized for video and music access, which is minimal and constant; anything else just causes slowdowns and other issues. Refresh the music library as usual and good luck. If all that fails, the you have a buggy handset and you should seek some sort of compensation. Its the first of its kind and some of us are paying for that. I have had only a few issues but i have solved them...tho i do have alot of patience with thing...so that helped too. |

Re: Music Library - where's it gone
joncoffe... installing apps to the HDD don make a diffrence i have over 50 apps on the HDD and they all work good as gold.... seondly DONt USE WMA.... it known to cause errors use MP3... they are the best... and 320 does work and it TOTALLY ROCKS... so yea lol... anyway... its more of a software glitch you got there i;d recommend reinstalling the firmware from scratch really... like formatting the HDD and then installing or reinstalling the new firmware.... and then put stuff back on....

Re: Music Library - where's it gone
Well, probably shouldn't say this but nearly 2 weeks on and I've not had a repeat of the problem. All running fine for now. Just holding my breath to see if the problem re-occurs.
