Red face Video problems N91

I just wonder if anyone can help me,

When i use the video recorder on my n91, then save the video it never appears in the Media Gallery Video clips section. The only way i can find it is by looking in file manager.!!

Is there a way to get them to save in the Media gallery.?

any help would be graetly appriciated..

Re: Video problems N91

Hi

I do not believe there is anyhting wrond with the HDD but rather the gallery database in the phone memory is screwed up. I suggest looking that these TIPs

http://www.ohgizmo.com/2006/10/19/to...our-nokia-n91/

a reset (7370) mayclear it up. You sw is quite olde I suggest upgrading you can do it yourself at home via Nokia's new NSU (see tips)

Re: Video problems N91

Hi

I harte to suggest it but you may need to make sure th sequence is followed

0) Backup HDD contents as per TIPs
1) Format HDD full
2) Then update SW (2.10)
3) Then do NOT restore the HDD etc just start clean and take a photo etc.

In that order. Before doing this however try this

1) From file manager for HDD
FIND
In HDD
Find Text: add in system. This will bring up a folder that has the system files.
You will see Apps, data and temp folders
Go into data and delete the MG2 folder (this has the databases on the HDD).
On power up these are recreated. Power the device on and off.

This would hopefully fix the Gallery DB. If not then do reflashing steps above

good luck and let us know because I am curious abou this one.

music

cheers

Re: Video problems N91

Hi Bread5tick

Considering you have already tried both a hard reset and updating your software, although not a perfect solution it may help changing the memory selected to store video files (hard drive or device memory).

Camera>Options>Settings>Video>Memory in use>select

If this doesn’t work I would suggest you take your device to a Nokia service centre.

Re: Video problems N91

Thanks again people. Right here is what i found so far, (it doesnt look good)

When i plug into PC and use PC SUite. I double click on say 'Attachments' and there are loads of folders but all titled really strangely with symbols and squares. when i try and click into any of the folders i get

'The filename, directory or volume label syntax is incorrect'

If i try to delete i get
'Cannot delete file: Cannot read from source file or disk.

Re: Video problems N91

Hi

Did you format the HDD using the PC? You had to be careful not to use a different cluster size. It just doesnt make sense.

Can you please reformat the HDD again and do NOT copy back the contents from your PC buts start clean (see an earlier post of mine)

Hi

Good news. Just curious do you have any idea what might have triggered it?
Pay attention to what you do over the next few weeks and if it happens again let me know...im a detective at heart and it bugs me when things just "go away" by themselves

Re: Video problems N91

I have not got a clue what caused it.

It may sound strange but when i had previously done a Full HDD format i never ever plugged it into a Charger as it stated. The final time i did plug it in and it seems now to be fine.

If anything else happens Music101 i will post here. Thanks again for your great support.

I know what you mean. I thought i had an issue with my battery, where the bars would drop right to the last one, only to rise again. Sure thats nice, but you want to know when your phone is really on its last bar. anyway i sent the phone to a shop that provides warranty for phones (no nokia service centre where i live). According to the guy there, apparently i installed some sort of software which he says doesnt shut down properly and was consuming the battery. i did remove all programs before i handed him the phone...so not sure how he worked that out. though he did say that the software installed corrupted 'something'. Anyway he said he reloaded the phone software onto my phone - im not sure what this means - i asked him if it wa the firmware and he said it wasnt. i asked for a further explanation and that he could not provide. all he said was he reinstalled everything.....funny the tutorial wasnt reinstalled (i removed it myself ages back, during a firmware upgrade....but you'd think his reinstallation would have brought that back). in any case, with all the said and done, it appears like my phone is no longer misbehaving with the battery bars - still checking it out though.

Re: Video problems N91

Hi

Format- I suspect that teh battery got low enough that the HDD staretd the shutdown sequence during theformat and it did not go cleanly (jmho)

APP- The issue is that there are so many 3rd party applications that "say" they are compatible with N91, N80 etc but how much real testing do they do? Do they test it when its combined with other apps etc? All it takes is a 3rd party application to not properly unistall and weird stuff happens

Re: Video problems N91

The guy who fixed your phone seems shady and if he truly did reinstall the firmware the tutorial would have come back. In my unprofesional oppinion he is trying to cheat you somehow. Well at least he didn't steal your phone or anything

Re: Video problems N91

when it comes to electronics in this country - theyre all shady - i have no choice and the warranty is to be taken care by them. On the flip side - ive had my phone run for 3 days now without a recharge yet. still too early to know if its a perm thing.
