For some reason three dont allow their users to turn off the mail box via the phone. You will have to phone CS and request that voicemail is deactivated. I have heard that in some cases you have to provide a reasonable excuse beofre they turn it off. I am uncertain as to why they do this.

Hope this helps.

"I am uncertain as to why they do this."

Probably so calls have somewhere to go when the network's acting up :P Voicemail must be a pretty good revenue spinner for any network.

No truer words said in jest!

When I was with Orange (GSM) I got more voicemail messages than I did phone calls! It was costing me a fortune listening to my messages.

The last straw was when Orange CS insisted I had MMS activated on my phone when they hadn't activated it at the messaging centre. I even told them where they were going wrong but they wouldn't have it. It said activated on the CS screen at Orange so it MUST be activated....

Thankfully o2 did it within half hour of moving to them :D

Luckily 3 3g had this all activated on my both phones (NEC e228 and LG U8120) - they don't find it problematic either.

Happy posting!

Hi Kieron

I am unsure if this works on 3 3g as I have never tried it.

If you goto Menu > Calling (2) > Call Divert (3) > Voice Call (1) > Options (left softkey) > Deactivate all (1).

Happy posting!

Lol, oh dear. My Orange voicemail has always been free. I was coming from the angle of termination charges - if a call can't get through then Three can't charge the callers network, where as if voicemail is active they can be taking termination charges without the recipient's phone even ringing.

I got my first voicemail message last night (in 2 weeks of being with 3) while at work - dunno why the phone was on with full 3g signal...

Can't be specific to 3 as my ex on t-mobile said it's happened to her on several occasions when people have tried to call her...

How much does 3 charge for listening to voicemail?

10p per min or in your inclusive mins (contract + 3pay)

However, you can get your voicemail for free by getting via e-mail!

You can't switch of the divert.. Its known as NETWORK DIVERT and is bloody annoying.. I only divert when I need to, as the 30 seconds isn't sometimes (when your up a ladder installing lighting for shows) long enough.

1) you can't use Calling Barring as this facility will not work with Call Divert in place
2) Call waiting will not work when Divert when busy is switched on

It would be nice to be able to have a time option..so that you can say between 9am and 6pm your calls are not divert, after that they are..

Anyone ?
