Last night i was at a Market Research group for Vodafone, got a good look at the Adverts (see other thread). But... I Also go to play with Four of the Newer 3G phones, Sharp 902, Nokia 6630, Motorola V980 and SonyEricsson V800. I got to use the phones each for about 5 - 10 mins, and my Impressions were taken... and here they Are!
Motorola V980
This is by far the least impressive of the handsets. A nice looking phone, it is let down by a rubbish camera, and a poor Motorola Menu system. Quite a bit thicker than a V600, it shares the screen but seems to be a bit small for all the features 9and compared to the other handsets) The camera was blurry, but had a good refresh rate. The second camre was easy to switch to 9easiest of all the handsets. The phone itself felt sturdy, but had the annoying hard to open Motorla flip design.
6/10
Nokia 6630
Highly anticipated, this effort from Nokia is excellent. Lacking the Video calling and the second camera, this puts down a bit. However, the overall feel of Nokia superiority defintly comes thourgh, with the Symbian OS working really well. The camera is marginally better than the 7610, and the screen is identical. It's best described as a Newer version of the 6600, with UMTS added.
7/10
SonyEricsson V800
This was a surprise as it is much larger than i though it would be, with all was forgotten by the amazing screen size and quaility! This blew me away, with a 3D Menu similar to the K700i, though this had 4x3 menu layout. The black and red theme was very impressive, as was the loudness of the MP3/4 player, which is on the front of the phone. This phone will be part of Vodafone's 3G Music download service i think. Camera quality was impressive also, with a nice refresh rate and good zoom.
8/10
Sharp 902
Simply, the best phone i have ever used in my life. The combination of sleek design, IPod colour, Largest Screen ever, GX30+ quality of screen, and the 2.0MP camrea is astounding. The function of the camera also puts this in a league of its own with the rotation auto changinh the screen to sideway view like an actual camera, and extra soft keys on the top for the Zoom and the options. When you zoom in you hear the Optical motor move the lens. *****! Nothing can prepare you for the screen though, i am still reeling from the sight! Absolutly incredible. I think i might be upgrading to this Bad boy!

Overall very impressed by Voda's attempt at trumping 3's chances. And, if this is anything to go by 3 must be wetting themselves, these really are the Killer phones, and i assume these will be the four we will see released. Accroding to the Voda rep who came to tell the others in the group the phones model names these will be out by November. So get ready, Vodafone 3G is rolling, and it aint going to stop!
