Just saw this on *********** .co .uk

L'Orange might delay the consumer launch of 3G handsets until after Christmas if technical glitches are not sorted out.

Orange chief executive Sanjiv Ahuja told Reuters: "If the overall customer experience is not right, I would feel comfortable pushing the 3G launch to next year." He said problems would have to be sorted out by early November to allow the launch to go ahead.

Ahuja also criticised some handsets for generating too much heat: "you can fry eggs on them ..." But he said the firm's roadmap remained unchanged - it still hopes to offer two handsets for Christmas.

Orange has appointed a new head for the UK. Bernard Ghillebaert becomes executive vice president for Orange UK. He replaces John Allwood, who has left the mobile firm to join newspaper publisher the Telegraph Group. Ghillebaert previously ran Orange's Belgian subsidiary, Mobistar.

...they're aiming very very high if they don't think the experience will be good enough pre-Christmas. Their service is already better than Three's IMHO. My Z1010 doesn't seem to get very warm either, and has good battery life (3-4 days.. good for 3G...).

Still, so long as they get it right, eh?

Of all the Orange Z1010's I know of, I don't know of any with this issue. Hopefully it's not the Z1010 they're talking about. The last thing I want is to get burned where my phone generally lives i.e. in a pocket very close to my favourite bits.

LoL!

You're right... the other Z1010 I had didn't get warm/hot either. Maybe it's the LG's, but I can't see them behaving any different to the current models on Three given the similarity of all the LG phones spec-wise.

Sanjiv Ahuja obviously didn't own a Phillips C12.

I have a mate with an LG8110 on Three, and he's never mentioned that his gets hot.

Maybe Sanjiv has a metal plate in his head! :D

I've got an LG8120, it does get rather warm, but not as hot as my e616 used to get
