well orange cs told me to go to www.orange.co.uk/mocsoftware for the 320kb driver upgrade, This will fix the couter problems" i was told, so i go there and download driver, then when i click it to instal it just gives errror warning 320kb expected only 220kb received, so i deleted it and try download again and keep getting same message before download even starts.

so i delete it again, restart laptop and then the slow datacard to get to the download page to go through it all again..aarrgghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
back to cs and they say ok we will check it out and get back to you!!
oh yeh? when?
in the bloody near future i hope.

so what do i do?

keep using a dodgy counter?

help,

i have just spoken to orange data services and my counter which is showing 48mb has used over 170!!!
my bill at 156 quid has been produced and orange have offered 30 quid as a recompense?

on a 23-50 quid tarrif?
i will be going to the 400mb tarrif but they say it cannot be started unill 3 nov, so i either use my laptop less or pay over the odds,

i am waiting for a call from a supervisor and if that is no help i WILL be taking it further as at no point has orange warned its customers about this problem

they say i should have kept a note of all sessions and added them up but i arguee that they have not provided the service i have paid for and am paying for.
i paid 150 quid for the card and if i had started on the 400mb tarrif i would have only paid 100 quid for card,

so will they refund any of it?
i will post what happens and i am not affraid to use the press and even the courts to defend my right as a consumer of their services.

on the customer services side of it, the data support people have been very helpful, ven trying to change my tarrif to the 400mb from the start of my contract but to no avail.
thanks for your help george.

I cry for you mate, I can only imagine how difficult it will be to sort it out.

The only good thing is hopefully enough people will see Orange acting in this deplorable/illegal/incompetent manner to go elsewhere.

It is a good idea to download that DU meter that I posted,it really is perfect for the job, and you could use it's stats as evidence for future problems.

well i spoke to a supervisor who offered me a 50 quid refund, then upped this month's allowance to 465 mb so two tarrifs are running at the same time then at end of month i pay the 23-50quid only for 465mb then i go up to 400mb tarrif and the 65 mb tarrif stops.

i have taken this but did say i was not excepting this as final and now i have to go to head office as billing dept say it's up to data and vice versa,

saying that i guess i have got back 90 quid as i get 400 free this month and a 50 quid credit note,
i will see what they say, i will also download that counter and even pay for it
can you post details again please

oh and all those mb were with the pictures turned off and only opened when needed.

i will keep you posted

i have been in touch with orange cs again and the refund and extra mb's is all i'm going to get.

i guess thats ok, it just another big company over the little man,
saying that though at least i am the sort to take it to the top, some people would just take it.

the counter won't be fixed for a while so keep a log of upload and download each session or go up a tarrif, 400 mb for me will be fine.
oh and the link in my posting at the top for the patch for the counter is actually the patch for the windows sp2 problem and that don't work either!!!!

Thank you Jobbed for the posting re the dumeter.
Have just had a shock having received my first 3g data-card bill showing 99MB in a 65MB bundle!
Yet you cannot monitor the rate.
This is aimed at the commercial market. Can you imagin a company with 100 people on the road generating these types of charges.
And unused bandwidth it is not rolled over: heads you loose, tails you loose.
There seems a lot of postings re unexpected bandwidth charges so if the dumeter shows up any discrepencies the office of fair trading might be interested.

"And unused bandwidth it is not rolled over: heads you loose, tails you loose."

Seriously? With my Orange World Access data that I get on my 3G Z1010 it rolls over if I don't use it. Damn, 3G phones are so going to render datacards useless.

Forgive me for asking this, I'm new to the 3G thing, but can't you see from the connections status window (on your pc) how much you have sent and received and from that calculate the total you have used on each session?

Please be aware that NO bundles roll over whether it be Megabytes, text, Video/MMS Messages - On Orange the bundles DO not roll over so if you are on a 400 meg tariff and you use 200 megs one month - you will NOT get 600 megs the next month - you will get 400 - PLEASE if you are under the impression that this is not the case call 350 to verify.  ;)

This all sounds very familiar to the reason I have just JOINED Orange (Nokia 6630 on their great 3g tariff) and am LEAVING o2. o2 slapped me with a bill for... wait for it... £2500!!! All of this was GPRS usage while roaming on the o2 Ireland (I am UK) network. Even at the £5.29 per MB they charge for roaming on o2 Ireland this means I used 472mb. Rubbish to that! My o2 counter says I used 80mb. Been in dispute with o2 about this for about 3.5 months now. They have admitted that there GPRS billing is up it but can't give me a timeframe as to when my bill will be re-calculated. Give me my PAC code and I'm outta there!

Just got my first bill of the great ones for my 3g voice contract (6630)
Guess what...
you've guessed it, they charged me for all my inclusive minutes, all my video calls and all my data at £1 a Mb.
Rang the billing line..oh we can't help ..dial 274 or something like that from your phone, so this guy answers and says 'hello!!'
I'm like "er hello is that Orange?"
"Yes wirefree here."
"Ah ok," so I explained it all and he wrote it all off.
Well he would of, except it was over 30 quid and he wasnt authorised to do any more than 30 quid???
I am assured someone will do it.
Any bets?

"Please be aware that NO bundles roll over"

My Orange World Access bundle rolls over. Your free 50mb a month probably wont.

"My Orange World Access bundle rolls over" - Which one do you have on your account? I highly doubt that it does.

The 10mb one... but I've just checked my last couple of statements and I've gone over slightly every month (leaving none to accumulate). It definitely used to though, I used to be on 4mb a month, but I always had 8 because I never used it, lol. I admit that this was about two years ago now :S How time flies!

I'd call 350 and ask but I'm scared of being greeted with "Hello, you again eh?" :D

I can verify that no bundles roll over on Orange. Period. ;)
