Hi,

Just received my 3G phone (LG8120) on the 500 Videotalk tarriff. So far I'm pleased with the phone and service but think the documentation is very poor.
So, I still have some questions?

1, Voice mail. Do I pay to receive my messages and if so can I turn it off?

2, Call costs. I know 0870 and 0845 numbers aren't included in the free minutes, but what are they charged at?

3, Browser - Today on 3. Is this free? I'm lead to believe you only pay for downloads, am I correct?

4, Texts - How much?

5, Video calls. I don't think these are included, but how much do they cost? I've seen everything from 5p - £1 per minute on different sites:rolleyes:

6, Quick map. Again no mention of costs?

Can answer a few of these:

1. Voicemail - When you call to listen to them, this comes out of your free minutes.

3. Yes this is free, you are only charged when you access videos/tones etc. These will always have the price on the page.

4. Texts are (IIRC) 10p each. You can buy a bundle - £10 for 200, there is also a £5 bundle which gives 75

5. Video calls are charged at 50p/min

2. Standard rate: 10ppm.

6. Price is displayed by the 'Find' button. Recently went up from 10p to 25p.

You can find all the phone documentation on the CD. All the information you need about 3 should have come with the phone. Anything else you need you should be able to find on 3's website.

Thanks,
All I got was the phone in it's box, no documentation other than the U8120 user guide. Didn't even provide details of how I claim the 1/2 price line rental back (found under terms and conditions on website). So far I'm impressed with the phone and the network just pricing seems a little vague. Apparently I've got free content for a month and 5 free video calls if this is correct:) http://www.3mail.com/explore/howmuch/priceplans/monthlydetail.omp?cid=1077203737123

but my video calls are 50pence per minute not 5p as stated here:( http://www.themobileoutlet.co.uk/Handset.asp?txtHandset=240&txtNetwork=5&txtTariff=59&txtMode=3&txtRef=0

That site needs to be contacted about those errors... atm you can't videocall landlines or other networks from Three anyway so those prices need to be replaced with n/a.

Silly site

I'm not sure of this is a billing error or perhaps 3 being a bit lenient while they're still building their customer base, but I have found that 0845/0870 numbers have so far come out of my inclusive minutes. Which is nice :)

I get billed to listen to my voicemail. The phone only rings a couple of times before voicemail is activated so I'm constantly paying for others to call me as I can't always get to the phone fast enough before voicemail is activated.

How do I turn it off?

CS is your friend here. Or your nemesis... I called them and had them deactivate my voicemail. After a day, it took effect. Good luck. Maybe it would be better to put it in writting instead of calling 333...

Friendly, Kostas.
