I'm sure this has been discussed elsewhere but if 3UK doesn't open up the WAP/GPRS internet browsing on it's network then I'm afraid I'm going to be moving to one of the other 3G providers coming up. I have seen everything of interest on their cut-down version of the internet and if I don't get free browsing I'm closing the contract next year.

In the words of Three UK's Chief Operating Officer, recently published on various news sites:
'People don't want open access, that's not what our customers tell us they want' 'Anyone in their right mind who tries to do anything on the Internet with a screen that size has to be nuts'

Then he'd best send the majority of us off to the sanitorium pretty pronto....

I don't want internet access on my phone as such (I've never been that bothered with WAP), I want data throughtput, so I can use my phone as a modem for my Powerbook G4 (to pick up e-mail and web-browse on a *proper* screen). They've both got bluetooth. I used to do it on O2/Orange with my 6600.... that's not nuts, is it ?

Like Abs0lutely highlights, it's more that 3's Chief is nuts, or out of touch...

Ah, but I do want internet access from my phone. My weather station gives out the current weather as a WAP page and I (and a large number of other people) use it to determine whether it's safe to go sailing or diving or whatever.

Can't do that with a 3 phone though. Only every other service in the UK!

Or both!
