You can access 3mail from microsoft outlook (express). Only problem is you must connect via 3 internet in mpt. just add a new account using the same details as you would enter on the a835 e-mail client.

go to add mail under e-mail accounts
select your name
enter your 3mail address under the first bullet point
enter the following for server names:
Incoming server type is IMAP
Incoming server is imap.three.co.uk
Outgoing server is smtp.three.co.uk
Your account name is your 3 phone number e.g. 447861234567 and your password is your voicemail pin.
click finish.
if your phone is connected to the inter(intra)net via mpt, outlook will attempt to retrieve a folder list. This may take a few minutes. Once it is completed, just dial 3internet from mpt and start outlook.
Note: You must first activate your 3mail address from today on three and also, your 3mail account can ONLY be accessed from the 3internet option, not by your normal server.

You can access your 3Mail via. your PC if you are connected to 3 using your PC.
What I mean is that you need to use the data cable to open a GPRS/3G data connection on your PC. You have to persuade Dial Up Networking to dial *99# on your phone. I don't know how to do it on NEC phones, sorry. You will only be able to access 3's Services (like you are on your phone) but you should have the ability to access their IMAP servers, which are only accessible from (I assume) an IP address assigned to 3.

Someone found a link where you could access your 3mail account via the web without using your phone (at least i think so anyway)

no such look ndi. It is simply accessing your 3mail the same way as today on three (mobile1.three.co.uk/mail/messagecentre.cgi) and you must connect via mpt again.

Is't it easier just to set up a free account from hotmail or yahoo or even another free one and use that?

4 Years old and Shoey's info still holds good. Many Thanks!
However, 3 doesn't seem to put my NTL Reply address in the headers (specified in the account settings in Outlook). Therefore any mails I send use the default 3 Mail account as the reply address and I can only pick them up when connected to the Internet via the phone.
Does anyone know a way around this please?
