Can anyone tell me if O2 plan to launch any new handsets soon, particularly-
Nokia N82 Black
Nokia N78
SE C702

Emails to O2 CS come back with the reply "I don't know what handsets are coming up", and when I ask why the coming soon section of the website is still showing March 08 launches I get a similar reply!

Thanks.

As the market is so competitive I doubt they will let anything slip, this probably also explains the out of date coming soon section

Just keep watching the site as I tend to do.

I'd have thought that they would do better by telling people what was coming up. You can't entice people to stay or bring new customers in by keeping silent. Heck, i'm due for an upgrade soon and i'm gonna be off to get a new handset that i want rather than hang around on the offchance o2 are catally going to bring out something new. Ah well!

If they are building up to launching the Apple 3G iCon sorry iPhone then they will be focussing on this and trying to push customers to buy it (lorryloads of dosh for them and Apple from both handset sales and ongoing revenue from the tariffs ) and if my memory serves me correctly the launch of other handsets slowed somewhat in the couple of months leading up to the launch.

I mean, why wouldn't you want to hand over £200+ to be divided between O2 and a greedy American billionaire (I'm no fan of Bill Gates/Larry Ellison/Scott McNealy either but Jobs isn't the saint that Apple fans hold him up to be, even Wozniak had the good sense not to go back to Apple) for a device locked to O2 permanently which has the lock reapplied when you update it if it has been hailbroken and then be tied into a £35+ contract for 18 months.

Frankly Apple's behaviour is digraceful and should be investigated by the OFT.

Speaking of new handsets, i WANT on of these : http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/products/mobilephones/overview/x1?cc=gb&lc=en

iPhone, XDA, PDA, 3G/HSD(U)PA the lot, all in one. Only thing that (slightly) lets it down is the camera, only 3.2MP. Hopefully SE will see fit to get a 5MP into it before launch, but that's unlikely as that would interfere with the 'K' range, and we all know what SE are like with separating their W and K ranges.

N82 in black is exclusive to Orange since they got screwed on the N95 8gig, how do I know... used to work for them and still obviously speak to the store.

Yeah i hate how o2 are just giving it all to apple at the expense of non-iphone customers. Isn't what apple are doing similar to what microsoft got done for with internet explorer and windows?

N82 Black exclusive to Orange? Nooooo! My orange signal is shocking and i had a bad time with them a few years back. They gave me back my own money they unrightfully took in the first place as a goodwill gesture lol!

It looks like at the mo it's vodafone if you want a newly launched non-iphone handset.

No DON'T DO IT! a friend of mine had an XDA mini S which obviously ran Windows and he had shedloads of grief with the OS crashing (hmmm bit like the desktop version then :) and I can say that as I support software running on top of the desktop version for a living! ) am not sure why SE really want to launch a phone based on such an OS but we'll see what happens although I'm finding that on occasion my K800i seems to freeze when its been fully charged and I have to induce a reset by removing and reinstalling the battery or holding my finger on the power button for two minutes, am hoping its an issue that will be rectified in a future version of the O2 firmware as thats why I upgraded to the latest version but its a good phone other than that.

Back on topic, Yes I agree entirely Alec, Apple are just as greedy and sneaky as Microsoft and I get fed up of listening to Apple die hards banging on that Jobs and co are working for the good of the technology enthusiast, things have changed a lot since the days when Apple operated out of a garage in Cupertino, now they will do the customer over as much as they can just like MS, Oracle or whoever.

Yep I own an iPod Nano for the sinple reason that its the size I want and it works with my home stereo, in short, it does the job.

I dual boot my PC with Windows XP and Mandriva Linux as eventually I want to move away from using Windows as Linux is used much more on servers because it is more reliable.

I'd have liked to have seen O2 throw its weight behind Trolltech (obviously prior to its acquisition by Nokia) by bringing out the greenphone on contract, in fact that might have persuaded me to switch to contract but of course the only issue with it was because it was open source it could not be sim locked easily.
