Planet 3 on Nokia N82 - Challenge

Purchased sim free Nokia N82 inserted my 3 sim card and was impressed with all functions including video calls but I am unable to access Planet 3 it just goes to a blank screen with mobile.three/hb/singleurl

In bookmarks alongside Nokia.com / nokia nseries / it has a green arrow pointing to the right, and the 3 bookmark (pre-loaded) has an orange arrow pointing left.

I was hoping with all the technology someone will be able to assist in breaking the code in allowing the N82 to access Plant 3.

My previous phone the Sony K800i was contracted through 3 when my 12 months were up I contacted 3 quoted my IME number and 3 were able to clear the 3 lock given me a sim free phone with planet 3 access.

No Gateway Reply !

I don't think you can. I think three use the phone's ID to to send a handset specific planet 3 page when you connect to the URL. It is really annoying because all they would have to do is let us use exactly the same settings as N95s and we would be away.

Wouldn't hold your breath waiting for a solution if I were you.

Still, you should be able to use My3

the only way how to use 3 stuff is use the NSS change the product code and install 3's firmware.

I think it's naughty that phone companies are restricting contract customers to use there services when customer purchases sim free phones. I phoned 3 today and asked the question on the basis they sell the N95, but all I got was sorry we are not selling N82 and are unable to comment - anyway it's there loss - being unable to purchase from there site, it will soon it them in the pocket.

I looked at this thread http://www.3g.co.uk/3GForum/showthread.php?t=76212 but don't see a Three code (I am assuming Euro 3 is just another Euro code as there is Euro 1 and Euro 2).

If there is a Three code I'd like to try it out.

messing about with N82 and I came accross the following which allowed me to view my3 - in your main menu - go into "video centre" - scroll round to "add new service" the world with the green plus logo - select "3" access point and connect - hey prestro you will be informed you are leaving planet 3 - scroll to the blue text "check on my3 to see if you have add-on" - scrool down to "my account" and you will see you account details - save as bookmark for quicker access the next time.

hi im also having problems with going to my 3 on my n82, but this phone was locked to orange but i have unlocked it now,after playing with the settings i cant even go online says packet data cant connect can anybody help

Try going back to factory settings - recently I have been able to surf & download from Planet 3

Phone 3 customer services, tell them you have no settings on the phone and they will send them to you by text or service text this is how I got around that problem on my Sim Free debranded Nokia N95

my 6110 Navigator gets planet 3 fine - obviously not certificated stuff like free MSN but the rest works a treat.

I got the settings from the Nokia site - cant recall which model i said i had tho

OMG I have actually done it. You basically need to make your browser tell webistes that it is on a N95 8GB instead of a N82. As both phones are pretty much the same with, most importantly, the same screen res, other web viewing will be exactly the same.

You need to hack your phone but for me it is worth it.

Install drakkarious.sis and follow the instructions here http://www.symbian-freak.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=20494&start=45.

Then follow the tutorial on Youtube here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qr1T9fze_f4

Then In the text file copied above, open it up and change "NokiaN82/XX.X.XXX to NokiaN95_8GB/15.0.015.

Now if you go to http://mobile.three.co.uk/hb/singleurl you will see exactly what a Nokia N95 8GB would see.

OMG I have actually done it.

You diamond! Thanks for the info - have now totally debranded my Orange N82 and got it working 100% on 3. Result - cheers. :cool:
