Does anybody have any problems with Vodafone’s “Call Catcher” service? I got a Voda pay as you go sim to check coverage in my house before I take out a contract.
After I ring the Voda number with the phone off the Call Catcher sms does not arrive straight way when I turn the phone back on again. Sometimes it does not arrive at all? It receives normal sms’s straight away.
I have checked that the service is active with the short code and I do not have the voice mail service turned on as I understand that the Call Catcher service does not work for some strange reason when voice mail is turned on (As if everybody leaves a message when you have voice mail on!)
I currently have a t-mobile contract and their equivalent service sends a sms as soon as the phone is back on line again. (This is regardless of voice mail status)

I don't know much about call catcher but I believe I have my voicemail on but if I'm out of signal range call catcher has texted me. It possible it's just a network delay as some texts wait a while and do a re-send and set intervals. I can find out if you need more info.

Thanks for the reply emmajg. Yes I would like to know more info if possible. Can you or anybody else confirm if the Call Catcher service works with voice mail divert active for out of reach? It certainly does not seem to work with voicemail active on my pay as you go sim and seems a bit unreliable with out voicemail active.
Thanks
Jason

I have received a call catcher SMS when my voicemail is turned on but my phone was uncontactable due to being inside a building. I suspect that when the phone is active on the network but non-responsive during the call setup process then it will work. In other words, if someone calls you and your temporarily out of coverage (so they hear a long delay then get your voicemail), as long as they hang up during your greeting then I found it worked. I'm on contract too.

Cheers for the reply. I have read somewhere else that Call Catcher will not work with out of reach divert to voicemail active on pay as you go, but it will on contract. That seemed a little bit strange to me, but looks like you have just confirmed it, well a least that it works on contract which is what I am interested in………thanks.
Is there any one from Voda who can double confirm this?

It's the out of reach divert that obviously affects it. I've only seen this work once when a mate was in a bar with poor signal and he tried to call me from the other side of the room to ask me what I wanted to drink. After a delay, he got my voicemail and I got a call catcher text (he never left a message). I had it on a missed attempt at a video call once too, will have to do some more experimenting but need a place where there is a mediocre signal as coverage is good at my home.

Hi,
I can help with some more info on this.
Call catcher is designed for customers who don't have voicemail set up and strictly speaking the call catcher service won't work if you have voicemail active. Even when you're in poor coverage, your call should be diverted to your voicemail when you're phone is not reachable.
If you have received a call catcher message while you have active voicemail diverts set up then it will be because the person didn't leave you a voicemail message.
For anyone with Voicemail, we'd always encourage you to set up your own personal greeting. The chances of someone leaving you message is dramatically increased when you set up your own personal greeting as callers are confident that have the correct person and are leaving a message for them.
So as a rule, call catcher should only work alongside voicemail if the caller doesn't leave you a message. More info on our Vodafone call catcher (http://online.vodafone.co.uk/dispatch/Portal/appmanager/vodafone/wrp?_nfpb=true&_pageLabel=template11&pageID=OS_0029&tabIndex=0) service can be found here.
Hope this helps.

Cheers for this info, I wasn't aware officially that the service should work when a caller listens to your voicemail and decides not to leave a message. I usually don't get many calls like this but have had the odd one or two where it works (as some people don't seem to like leaving voicemails) so handy to know.

As usual, a load of old waffall from vodafone and not really explaining anything!! YOUR MISSING THE POINT!! that being IT DOESN'T WORK!
I've tried *#148# and *148# told it was now active, rang my own number from a landline when i had a weak signal (far to often but hey that's vodafone) turned my phone off and rang from a landline, never recieve anything telling me anything (unusual for vodafone because that's what they're good at).
Orange and t-mobile supply a service, so vodafone say they do to, but in sad reality they don't.
