Has anyone had any dealings with the above company? If so, are they reputable?
I’m looking for a Nokia N82 which, usually on a contact is a minimum £30 per month plus cash or £350’ish sim free unlocked.
As I’m with Voda (who don’t do the N82) these guys want £150 with no change to my existing contract apart from renewal, which is way better than any other offer! My concern is that the website (http://www.mobilephonesdirect.co.uk/) looks a little iffy (all the other networks logo’s are displayed on the site but there are no actual deals). Also, they seem to offer a deal on the N95 8GB on Vodafone which is equally too good, £140, no contract change apart from renewal. Even Vodafone want at least £250 for phone plus 18 month contract!
They have shops but no where near me! Can I trust these guys with my cash?

I think they are the people who run the Nokia shops.
I got my N82 from my local Nokia shop on an upgrade for £140, 12 month contract £20 / month.

I'd be happy with that!:)
Which shop was it? If its listed on the above site I'll get in touch with 'em.
I'm guessing every thing's been OK with the service and phone?

No problems.
I've bought from there before, because I wanted Vodafone, but without their stupid branding on the handset.
It was the shop in Banbury.
The N82 works out about the same price as the silver N95

One problem.
They signed me up for insurance without my permission.
The first thing I knew was a notice in the post that a direct debit had been set up!
£5 per month for mobile insurance is a rip off. My house insurance includes mobile phones, and is only about four times that price for the whole house, everything inside it and stuff I take outside with me.
I am going to have an angry phone call on Monday...

Thanks for the warning.
In case the shop try pass you on to the insurer I looked on the site and to cancel it says contact these people:
Citymain Administrators Limited, P O Box 116 Ryde PO33 2WX[/B] tel: 8704442558.
Probably worth cancelling the DD with the bank but wait until they tell you how they'll refund the premium you've paid. If its by DD you'll need to keep it in place.

Maybe a little late for you now, BUT.... I can HIGHLY recommend MobilePhonesDirect.
I too wanted the N82, and I am also with Vodagroan. Vodagroan aren't carrying the N82. I was a little dubious (at first) with MPD, and carried out a little research.
I bought it on an "upgrade" with Vodafone (Through Mobile Phones Direct)(Contract remains the same/no change to contract). Handset cost me 95£ when I bought it in February. Ordered day 1, received day 2. Nokia maps 3 MONTH trial of voice directions. Included 2Gb card in the phone PLUS another (sealed) 2Gb card.
Sealed unit (box) and unbranded.
Yep, I recommend them.
(NB I am NOT associated in any way, shape or form with Mobile PhonesDirect, except for a satisfied customer).
Of you do have any doubt, pay by credit card, which also gives you further protection.
Cheers

Last Thursday afternoon I upgraded with no change to my vodafone tariff, I paid via credit card for my upgrade fee £89.99 and my N82 was delivered sim free with my 2gb memory card installed all security sealed by Royal Mail Friday morning.
I will use said again
Just for the record I phoned Vodafone first for my upgade and was informed that the N82 may not be released.

Nice one on the N82 :-) What software are you running on the N82 at the moment? v11/v20? Did you update/Have you updated, the software from v11 to v20? If so, did you use Nokia Software Updater (NSU) and did you have any problems?
Reason I ask (covered in other threads), is that I updated from v10 to v11 when I got the phone (Feb). I have tried updating from v11 to v20 but where as Nokia site states v20 available, when I input my product code, I am informed latest version is v11!! Dohhhh

N82 software is V11, I will hold off a while before I attempt to upgrade.

Cheers "Twinfox".
Seems I have an ongoing "dispute" with Nokia.
Took handset, to their service agent, for s/w update in view of the above. They "crashed" my phone, and had to send to Nokia. 15 bloody days later my phone is returned, working fine (since THEY crashed it!) but still version 11 s/w. They are "working on a fix" for v20 to be available for product code (behind your battery) 0558752. I'd be interested (out of curiosity) if your has the same product code.

I would never touch a cashback company, they were investigated on a UK TV program called Dispatches and 99% of them were crooks. It's not worth the risk.

But this was not/is not a cash back deal. A straight purchase.

Richdog - I totally agree with you - with my 1st cashback experiance I only got £75.00 back out of £100.00 by emailing a copy of my invoce every 3 months. BUT mobilephonedirect offers 1 month back and that will depend on the contract i.e if you take the £17.50 cashback - thats all you get.
I was intrested in the upgrade 12 month contract N82 for £89.99 with 2gb and sat nav trial (3 months) and next day delivery
