Hello

Ive had an N82 on o2 for a few days and would like to get rid of the very annoying o2 screen saver that comes up when you dont touch the phone or when the keyguard is on and a button is pressed.

Hope im explaining the issue clearly.

My phone is always in my pocket and the battery life seems rubbish and im wondering whether its buttons being pressed while in my pocket bringing this o2 screen saver thing on and the lights on the phone therefore draining the battery pretty quick.

The battery life seems a lot worse than my N73, yesterday it was down to half power by mid afternoon having only made 3 calls.

I dont mind the "hello" and "goodbye" o2 screens when you switch on and off but this one stays on for around a minute, even when you first lock the keyguard this screen appears after the lights go out and puts the lights back on for a bit.

Any help would be good as if i cant get rid of this screen o2 can have the phone back and ill stay with 3, it reminds me of the very annoying 3 services bar that the N73 had when first launched on 3.

Thanks in advance for any help

use nss rebrand to a euro 1 firmware, gets rid of all crap, as its o2 it may be unlocked anyway so you are laughing, plus you,ll get all updates as asoon as they come out, noy when o2 say you can have them, i,m on orange with my unlocked handset on v11 software.

Thanks for the response, really appreciate it.

Im not the most technical person in the world so could you explain exactly how i do that please?

Last time i updated firmware on my N73 on 3 the phone ceased up and had to go away for repair so id like to avoid making a mess of it again lol

Ive managed to get slingbox and agile mobile working on the n82 so far, Tom Tom is next :cross-eye , shame the two phones dont share the same memory card size :cross-eye

http://clear-nokia.blogspot.com/2007/05/nokia-n95-debranding-guide.html

the principles are the same really except your going to have to find the product code for a generic n82. actually im feeling nice and i just found it for you (providing your european) the product code for your n82 is...0549174

good luck!

This is why I bought my N82 from a Nokia shop :-)

You should know that changing the product code can void the warranty.

If it helps, the product code for my UK bought N82 is: 0558752

Use s/w to change the product code to whatever you like

Hughesy,

Did you update your own software, through NSU??

Nokias own Software News site advises V20 available. By inputting my product code 0558752 (within "Check for s/w updates" on the Nokia site), I was informed latest s/w is v11, which I am running :-(

Connected my phone to NSU, to see what THAT revealed, and was informed I was running latest s/w v11!!

Called a Nokia Service point who have v20 available. Took my phone to them. 30 mins later they advised that the software/phone had crashed at 60% install, and the phone would then not switch on :-( (They have now had to send to Nokia to be sorted. Bugger!!

Cheers
