N95 8gb email setup?

Hi.. Is it possible to setup vodafone.net email on the n95 8gb so I can look at emails in the messaging app rather than vodafone live or by dialing 242?
I've tried loads of settings but can't seem to get any of them to work..

Ok don't worry, sorted it.. Didn't know you had to set-up 'my mail' as well as vodafone.net.. Talk about hard work..

Hi there.

I noticed you had gotten your email working with MyMail but I just wanted to clarify that you don't have to use this product to get your vodafone.net email on your N95. It really depends on how much mail you think you will use as to the benefit of using MyMail or not. If you are only going to use email on the odd occasion then you can setup your standard mail client on the handset to check and reply to your messages. I have posted the setup instructions below just in case you change your mind about using MyMail.

Setting up Email

1. from the idle screen press left select key under messaging
2. press options key and scroll to and select settings
3. scroll to E-mail and press centre key
4. remain on mail boxes and press centre key
5. press options, scroll to and select New Mailbox
6. the Mail box wizard will automatically start up this is the only way to configure E-mail on
the device
7. press start
8. on Mailbox type highlight internet protocol pop3
to select then press next
9. on my e-mail address enter your account address i.e. john.smith@vodafone.net
press next key
10. on incoming mail server enter pop.vodafone.net press next
11. on outgoing mail server enter send.vodafone.net press next
12. on access point in use scroll to and select create new press next
13. on connection name press centre key
14. enter new connection name press ok (Mail is a good one to use)
15. scroll to Data bearer press centre key select packet data press ok
16. scroll to access point name, press centre key to select and enter:
for contract use internet
for PayT pp.vodafone.co.uk
and press ok
17. scroll to user name, press the centre key enter web and press ok
18. scroll to prompt password and press centre key to select no
19. scroll to password, press centre key, enter web and press ok
20. scroll to authentication press centre key to select normal
21. press left select key under options, scroll to and select advanced settings
22. network type should be set to Ipv4 if not press centre key to select it
23. phone IP address should be set at automatic if not press centre key to select it
24. DNS address should be set to automatic if not press centre key to select it
25. scroll down to proxy server address and press centre key to select, enter
212.183.137.012 then press ok

26. scroll down to proxy port number and press centre key to select, enter 8799 then
press ok
27. press back twice
28. enter mailbox name i.e. Vodafone mail press next
29. scroll down to new mail box press centre key
30. remain on connection settings press centre key
31. remain on incoming email press centre key
32. highlight user name and enter account username i.e. john.smith
33. scroll to password press centre key and enter account password
34. press back four times
35. scroll to mailbox in use and press centre key
36. scroll to and select desired mailbox

Remember these are only the basic settings needed to setup your device for email. Check your manual for further customisation of your email settings.

Do you know if mymail is free? Didn't see anything about being charged for that service.. I don't use email that often but if it's free to use my mail I'll just leave it as it is : )

(Maximum download size 2MB.) To send an email using My Mail you will be charged 12p. If you have Vodafone’s Mobile Internet pack you will not have to pay for the alerts.

We do have a My Mail bundle that you can subscribe to, for £5 a month you will get unlimited alerts, emails and attachments.

You can get the Vodafone My Mail bundle by subscribing via Vodafone Live or by contacting customer services on 08700 700 191 (191 from your Vodafone mobile.)

I have the 120mb data bundle included in my price plan, can I add the £5 mail bundle as an extra?

You're best to add the other data pack for £10 as that's only £2.50 difference and it includes My Mail and MSN.

I've been having trouble getting the £5 bundle added to my account and was told today by someone in technical that the £5 my mail bundle has been dropped and is no longer included in the £10 data/messenger bundle. Anyone know if this is correct?

Hi,

Just to update everyone on the mymail situation. If you already have a mymail bundle set up and in place then you're fine for now. We will be discontinuing mymail later this year in favour of a better e-mail solution that is being worked on at the moment. There aren't any details to what this will be yet.

The only way to have mymail now is if you have the £7.50 data bundle. This includes the free mymail alerts each month but you'd be charged at 12p per message you choose to download or send from your phone.

New sign ups for mymail are no longer available for either the 50p monthly alert bundle of the £5.00 unlimited alerts and send/receiving of e-mail.

I'm sure the new solution will be much better and easy to use when it does launch. Watch this space.
