it may be that you still have the t-mobile settings saved? you would need to delete those, if you were using it for pay and go previously and now using it for contract then also that may be a problem, because you would need to replace the pay and go settings with the post pay settings, or visa versa. it may even be that the o2 settings will not be supported on the handset as it is a t-mobile handset. have you tried calling o2 and asking them to go through the manual settings with you opposed to the over the air settings?:squareeye

Hi Glitter,

thanks for your response, i bought the phone from ebay, it was a contract phone i beleive, although i did use a payg sim in it to try it out just so i could see the menus and use the camera etc. I called 02 who really wernt much help, they tried to go through it with me on the phone but they couldnt quite understand what i was telling them i dont think, so i took it to the 02 shop, not any help atall, told me to call T-Mobile...why im not sure to be honest! Im at a loss what to do with it now!

Try doing a forum SEARCH, dunno how many times people, including myself have posted this:

If you've got a handset from another network, it'll be full of their settings, *** edited the manual should show where *** to find out where these settings are, and delete all of them.

Manually set-up the MMS profile:

Go into your picture message settings, Create a new MMS profile called o2 MMS and delete the rest. Ensure these settings are correct:

Profile name: Anything you want.
Message Server: http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002
Connect Using: O2 Postpay*

* This can say: O2 WAP, O2 GPRS WAP, or O2 GPRS...

Then go into your internet connection settings and ensure the Postpay/Pay Monthly/GPRS WAP proflile (as above) is set up as follows:

P.S... if it doesn't exist, create it !

Homepage: http://wap.o2.co.uk
APN: mobile.o2.co.uk
Username: mobileweb
Password: password
Login Request: Off
IP Address: *blank*
DNS address: 193.113.200.200 & 193.113.200.201
Authentication: PAP/Normal
Data Compression: Off
Header Compression: Off
Proxy Settings: On, Multiple

Proxy Settings:

Proxy: On
Same for all servers: off
Proxy Servers:

HTTP: Address 193.113.200.195 port: 8080
Secure: *Blank*
Streaming: *Blank*

BTW, if you're on PAYG, and not contract, this won't work. Click my username and look for the post with the PAYG settings.

If you're contract, and it still doesn't work, did you previously have an iMode handset ? If so, contact customer services, ask them to check your Data APNs - make them aware you're an iMode customer. If not, get them to check anyway.

Still doesn't work ? Ask them to reprovision your services. 48 Hours later, still doesn't work ? You've a duff handset, get LG to do a warranty repair on it, or send it back to the seller !

HTH,
Chris.

more to the point if the handset was on t-mobile and you have got it unlocked why should another network go out of it's way and provide you with the settings. it's like buying a car and it goes wrong but you say well i fill my car with petrol with esso so i expect esso to deal with everything. You cannot expect the proper support from a network when the handset is not even theirs, all their obligation is to provide basic services ie calls and texts and not much more.

Thaks CJI207 for the info, much appreciated. I did a forum search but could not find anything (obviously didnt look hard enough!) I didnt read the removed manual as i am far too impatient. Thanks again for your advice. :)

Aquafortis - thanks for your comments, however, i didnt come on here for someone to have a pop at me, i came on for help, if you cant help and only post sarcastic messages to genuine people who need genuine help then maybe you shouldnt say anything atall. I am fully aware of my networks obligations to me, however i still found them unhelpful, that is my opinion which i hasten to add am entitled to.

PS: Interestingly, I have a PAYG O2 sim and it worked just fine...
PPS: Disagree with aquafortis: You are paying for the privilege of using their network and have every right to expect cs and related info...

right, i'm not able to use this APN anymore - on the 22 April I got a series of text messages from O2 with WAP/MMS settings (that I did not save and use, since I preferred to keep this APN), and since then nothing works...

anyone have a similar situation?

mobile.o2.co.uk APN is for contract only
PAYG is limited to their wap portal. If you have been using the contract one for a while you have been lucky.
