Ok so here's my problem.

When ever i slide my phone up the screen goes black or distorted. I phoned orange up and they said to get the phone replaced it would cost me £100 as i didnt have any insurance. They then gave me nokia's number to deal with them.

The only problem is that i have changed my product code, will this void my warrenty with nokia. Is there any way i can get orange to replace the handset for free??

I can take orange care out on the website, will orange have a record of my call to them, as i could maybe take this out then report the for a few weeks later

any suggestions

thanks

Orange will normally offer you insurance over the phone, so you start paying and they replace the phone but your stuck with it for a year.

Whilst i've not met anyone that has been charged by Orange they are just as likely to check the firmware as Nokia are if you get them to replace the handset and thus could still charge you but i've not had this myself.

I would personally take the phone to a independent phone shop which is also a nokia service center, some of the independents will happily change firmware to generic for a small charge anyway and if they can make a repair its in their intrest to do so as they still charge nokia for a genuine fault and they still get paid. There is one in Salisbury that accepts postal returns, might be worth a call found them very good in the past.

Change the product code back to it's original and hope for the best!

I have read that someone had their screen replaced my the carphone warehouse for £45! Which is good considering it's done professionally!!
