After reading about orb in the wifi thread, I'm interested in trying this out.
What is it like to setup and is it secure? Don't fancy having my home pc open to the internet for anyone to jump into.
Anyone had any bad experience with orb?

its not open for everyone. you sign up and download the software to your smputer, which you then leave on with the orb server running you then connect using your login and password so no-one else can access your computer.

It’s as secure as any type of say FTP server that you run on your system.
Anyone that knows the user name and password can get to whatever you want to share.
Don't tell anyone your details and you "should" be ok but as with any protocol that utilises the internet to send and receive data it will never be 100% secure.
I for one would not have any sensitive details reachable with Orb. You can make any document/folder accessible if you so wish but as the connection is not encrypted private documents should not be viewed. Anyone with the right software and knows what they are doing could eavesdrop on the packets of data being sent especially at unsecured hotspots.
I keep Orb to none secure Office documents, porn, music, films, porn, family video’s, family photo’s, porn, live TV streaming, my webcams oh and did I mention porn.

I use it all the time as I can stream my audio real time and download any data on my computer that I require.
I also use it to stream my audio from my wii as it works a treat!
Regarding security here's some information from there site:-
About Security
Orb is safe and secure, allowing you to confidently connect to your home PC and stream media to any internet-connected device. Orb uses multiple layers of security, so you can be assured your home PC is as secure as ever.
User authentication
Access to your home PC is controlled by a unique username and password through a secure connection. All Orb authentication servers are hosted in a highly secure data center.
Advanced encryption
None of your personal media is stored on Orb servers. All content stays on your PC and is securely sent using 128-bit and 256-bit encryption. The advanced encryption guarantees you and only you can safely connect to your home computer. Plus, the connection is secured in both directions using proprietary security algorithms. Additionally, personal data and information is not stored but routed.
Maintain firewall integrity
Orb does not compromise your firewall at home. In fact, Orb does not introduce any opportunity for "strangers" to get into your files or network.
