Does anybody know how to get the vodafone firmware on to a Nokia N95. The phone was originally a branded vodafone phone and then debranded, and now I want to get it branded again.

Everything I've read says you can't.

Although it might be possible if vodafone ever release a newer version than the one your phone has. But that isn't going to happen.

Why would you want to anyway?

Well, the product MusicStation is only available with vodafone. MusicSa
tation is a product that allows you to download any music for 1.99 per week. So the phone i bought, privately, was originally a vodafone phone which was debranded. So therefore i need it branded vodafone again in order to gain me access to Musicstion. The actual problem is when i download MusicStation, the msg says i dont have the certificate required. (the vodafone certificate), which is why i need the firmaware.

Can't you import the certificate somehow? I've no experience with Musicstation but from a network branding perspective have always liked my phone to remain unbranded as it looks and performs better.

Contact Modifications, based in Sheffield who should hopefully be able to sort you out: http://www.modifications.co.uk/

The guy who runs this company was a star when I actually needed my N73's firmware downgrading due to Nokia releasing a dodgy upgrade which had a bug preventing the alarm clock working when the phone was off!

I would love to only load/import the certificates as that would allow me to keep the unbranded and most up to date firmware. I got no idea how to do that though. If anybody knows how to do that then pls post here. In the mean time I will pick up on your suggestion to contact Modifications.

Have a look on the Nokia forums or on the forum for your specific phone on here, hopefully someone with the knowledge can assist. I'd have thought Nokia would have designed the certification system such that you could import them in to the phone as in all intents and purposes you could have paid full price for your phone (out of the box unbranded) rather than take it from the network on a fixed contract.

Already got the software from the site and it only updates the version of the firmware you have on the phone.

I have also tried changing the product code on the phone to a vodafone product code. But when you run the Nokia update it jut says you already have the latest version on the phone. So it wont do an upgrade presumably as the version number is greater, and it wont install an earlier version or something along those lines.

I recently tried installing the certificates directly that I got from someone (who had an ericsson) but it didnt quite work. I think one was ok but the other wasnt. So if anybody can email the files from vodafone, preferably Nokia phone then that would be very handy.

Sorry, I don't have the certificates either due to debranding.

But I wouldn't go back to the vodafone software if they paid me.
