I was wanting to get a slingbox with teh n95 and was initially going to go with Three but i noticed that whilst three has two different types of internet tariffs on the x series services, gold and silver, o2 does not differentiate between the two.

On checking slingbox mobile website. its says it runs on any 3g network data tariffs (obviously meeting the min requirements).

S0 my question is. To use slingbox correctly should i sign up for the unlimted gold x series service with Three or will o2's standard unlimited data tarriff be fine for the job.

Thanks

I think you will find that O2's T&Cs say:

Any other use of the O2 Web Bolt On will not be a Permitted Use, including but not limited to:

1. Use with Data Cards or Modems;
2. Instant Messaging,
3. IP Telephony,
4. Point 2 Point file sharing and file transfer,
5. VoIP (e.g. Skype™),
6. Video and TV streaming,
7. Slingboxes; and
8. Use in conjunction with routers.

So no...Three are the only network (to my knowledge) not to get anal about Slingboxes and the like. Certainly looking at those rules - it doesn't leave much that you can do. Of course, they might not notice, or if you are already with them and threaten to leave they may waive the rules perhaps.

Also, I was told by CS that they will be altering their Data Tariffs this/next month. I'm hoping they might actually compete with 3 and offer cool services such as Slingbox/Orb - but I'm not expecting much!

Cool.. thanks mate. That exactly what i was wanting to know. I amy actually be better just holdin off a month as i have just found out that the n95 8gb is actually incompatible with slingbox at the moment. You cannot buy Three's gold xseries with it at the moment. I would guess they are just playing it safe just now as there are the video problems with sling and n95 8gb
Maybe when sling sort out these problems they may offer the phone with gold x series.:squareeye

Yeah, I don't see how it can possibly not be compatible really when the original N95 was and its the most powerful phone out there. As you said they are probably just sorting out the settings.

even though it says that in the t&c does o2 really check?
