Have just updated my N95 8GB to version 15.0.15 Firmware

no problems so far

1 thing that has happened 3 times in the last 2 weeks is the same crap i had with my old Nokia N95-1

today it re-started itself.........again!!!!!!

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!!

i was in my car, stopped for some food, started to write a text message and then "kapow" the pice of crap turns itself off while im doing it
and NO i didnt have any applications running in the background, i make sure they are off.... apart from SKYCALLER which i couldnt do without, its great!

i have truly had it with Nokia N Series Phones now, i wont be buying anything like them again, YES they have all the features, but come on! we still got the re-starting issues!!!
i dont know if the New Firmware i installed today will cure it, maybe it will, maybe it wont :(
i even text my contact at Nokia and simply said "no more!"
didnt get a response, then again i knew i wouldnt

i will probably get a million messages saying "mine is fine"
the point is you wont know its restarted if you carry your phone in your pocket or have it on your desk i suppose

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I had random restarts with my N95-1 as well, i've cycled through all the firmware versions since its been released, i guess either nokia knows & cant fix it or their releasing software with bugs some greater evil plan for which we can't yet see.

I just live wit it, plug in my usb cable crashes it sometimes on v20 firmware, sometimes leaving the phone in settings menu crashes it, others like configuring wlan networks also do it. I live with it, but its crap when it fails when your doing something urgent.

TBH I look at it this way. All Nokia F/W upgrades are beta software as they are obviously trying to fix something or introduce something new.

After each update people tell Nokia of the problems and they release another F/W that hopefully fixes it. And so the story goes on.

Someday soon, they might even get it right ROFLMAO!

Remember Nokia are also working on the N96 (or whatever) and soon our N95 8gb won't get any updates!

That's the speed of technology for you. You either run with it or jump off the merry-go-round. It's your choice.

I wonder if you have a zillion apps installed on your phone.... Because this is like your 100th replacement?? :D

I have very little stability issues with both my original n95 & n95 8GB. I'm sure no matter what smartphone you own, you'll probably get the same issues. Third party software can always cause instability because that's the nature of the beast. They are not all developed to the same standards and you could blame the programmer(s) for causing instability. The same applies to PC's. M$ has taken over 2 decades to make their OS not to go completely down if there is software conflicts/bugs. Remember all those Blue Screen Of Deaths...

Perhaps you're over paranoid with the issue? ;) How often does it happen?
I get the occasional reset but it doesn't happen often enough. My windows has much more abnormalities...
