Happy new year to all.

I've decided to take the plunge and debrand my N95 so as I can get the v20 firmware. All I've read about the process advises to sync the phones contents to the P.C rather than using the back up feature on the Nokia P.C suite. I've had a look at the sync process(never used before, always used back up) and it wants to sync with microsoft outlook but for some funny reason my P.C wont or cant open microsoft outlook. I've managed to sync with outlook express but its only sync'ed my contacts, this is fine in its self but (a) what about my pictures and music etc and (b) how do I get the sync'ed stuff back onto the phone. I'm not bothered about the messages or the music really but wont to keep my contacts and pictures.

Any advice would be great...thanks in advance

If you don't have Microsoft Outlook (the email client that comes with Microsoft Office) either installed or set-up then it won't synchronise with it.

Just copy your pictures off the phone onto your PC using Windows Explorer, just as if you were copying normally, and do the same with the music files too.

You say your contacts are synchronised with those in Outlook Express? If so, then you are all set.

Hi Tim...

I've copied the pictures and music as you suggested. My reamaining question is how do get the sync'ed contacts back from outlook express to the phone.

Cheers

Hi, OK well after you run the debrand/upgrade you then re-sync the phone with Outlook Express and the contacts should then be re-synchronised. This is designed to be a two-way process, so you will have a mirror of your contacts on the phone and the PC.

Cheers, Tim.

Hi Tim..

I figured it out in the end and have done the debrand/V20 upgrade and managed to get all my contacts and pics etc back onto the phone without problems. Cheers
