Hello,
Is there anyway to tell if the N95 is using HSDPA when browsing the web? I have put my vodafone sim in it (the voda coverage map shows they have 1.8Mbps everywhere they have 3G) but the phone still has a 3G symbol in the top left.

I don't know what it should show, if anything. Maybe vodafone don't have HSDPA enabled on my cell, although there coverage map shows they do.
my n95 on 3 goes from 3g to show 3.5g i presumed this was the change

My N95 hasn't changed from 3G to 3.5G (I have HSDPA enabled in the settings). I assume voda don't actually have HSDPA in my area or it's not activated on my account.

The 3.5G symbol only appears on firmware V12 and above and only when a 3.5G connection is active (i.e. only shows 3G until you connect).

Where is the setting for this? I have version 20 firmware and can't see it anywhere. Do you mean UMTS?

I have V11 software which explains it. There is a setting for the HSDPA under Tools, Settings, Connection, Packet Data. It is only present when in 3G coverage.
Has anyone noticed a slower connection speed since updating to v20? I have noticed a significant decrease is speed when trying downlading podcasts and using emtube.
Sorry about the thread hi-jack!

Yes, it is UMTS for 3G only, you can't restrict it to 3.5G only.
