I know this subject has been pretty well covered, I have searched and have a couple of questions....
Basically i'm thinking of debranding my N95 and upgrading to V20, my package includes navigation and i'm wondering if this will still work after I upgrade. Also will my SMS inbox remain intact?
Thanks for any help :)

I debranded mine using this guide http://www.blogn95.blogspot.com/
Mine was branded T-Mobile and to be honest it's alot better now. Never used the navigation as I use Route66.
As for messages and settings, either back them up or make your messages reside on the memory card!!
Hope this helps.

The only thing I lost was my mailbox number so just make a note of it before you debrand.
Keep it safe because every firmware upgrade I have done it is the only thing that is lost from the T-Mobile settings.

TOPTIP-
Save your voicemail number as a contact and then after you debrand/upgrade/reinstall and your phone has lost the vm number resync and just tell it to find it again in your contacts.
I have two phones so I save 'voicemail Ameo' and 'voicemail N95'.
Also put all your reinstall app sis files on your mem card in a folder and reinstall from there. No PC, no connection!

Question - how do I find out my mailbox number if I didn't save it before debranding? I have dialled 222 and had it resent, but it won't save it! :/

Just ring up T-Mobile and tell them that your son/daughter/little sister/brother has messed up your phone and deleted your mailbox number. I don't think it would be wise to tell them the truth, that you lost it with a debrand. :cheeky: They will tell you what your number is then.

On T-Mobile your mailbox number is your own phone number;)

My Mailbox number on T-Mobile is not my own phone number!
My own number is this +440785******3
But on the settings on the phone (that T-Mobile gave me when I debranded) I have this number +44798******7. :p
EDIT:
Does anyone else have different numbers or is it just me?
The different mailbox number works fine.

Thanks for that Graffen. :)
After what TWD-Tony said I was confused and started to think that T-Mobile were wrong and gave me the wrong settings somehow.
Now it looks like it is TWD-Tony that is confused and wrong. ;)
You're right, the mailbox is different. But I divert all missed, out of range calls etc to my home phone (which has an answerphone and remote access also), which is exceptionally handy, especially when I'm in one room and the mobile's in another and I don't hear it go/ get to it in time as I can pick it up on the home phone.

I'm actually hoping they allow V20 anyway very soon but if not, I feel I may have to follow this path.
Anyway, all hints are useful.

The poisition is that it depends if you are prepaid or postpaid. One type has a different number (I think prepaid) and the other doesn't

So I was right then?
The user said "On T-Mobile your mailbox number is your own phone number"
I pointed out that this was not the case for myself, as others subsequently did.
Its nice being right now and again :D

I've debranded mine and upgraded, has anyone noticed that web'n'walk is a bit flaky getting a connection since upgrading?
Mostly when trying to get a 3.5g connection i have noticed.

With T-Mobile, After I debranded and upgraded, I noticed the internet was slow and would get alot of T-Mobile Gateway errors.
I solved it by going to the t-mobile website and using the self help feature to get the internet settings sent to my phone. Now Web+Walk works great, nice and quick as it was with no gateway errors.
