Hi, has anybody had problems with vodafone stating that you have been browsing for hours at a time ?
They are trying to charge me for several hours in one go - even though I dont use my phone for this as I have my lap top at all times..
They sent me a text asking them to contact them on a certain number which did not exist before they put a bar on my phone - they later confirmed it was an old number -
and they would look into it and no bar was in place - then they barred it..Ignoring all my emails then said I could call them if I had a problem !! yeah with a barred phone..

As I understand it a barred phone can still call vodafone customer services. Otherwise you'll have to find one of those old tied line things people used to use.
What phone do you have?
You say they are trying to charge you for hours browsing, do you mean Megabytes? Data is usually charge by the KB, not by the minute.
When you use your laptop, are you using it to connect to the internet and if so how?

From the vodafone site.
You get a generous 15MB a day for just £1.
........
If you’re on our day rate and go over your MB allowance, you’ll be charged £2 for every extra MB you use.
Not sure where £10/MB comes from, I don't even think roaming is that expensive.
phone is nokia navigator..
A 6110?
There have been a couple of cases of N95's which have used suspiciously high amounts of data. It's possibly a software fault though it could be a simple billing error.
Is it a 6110? if so have you used the GPS? (GPS might not apply as it seems the 6110 uses Route66 not Nokia Maps, though AGPS could rack up a decent charge if you were roaming at a quid per connection). What does the phones data log say? WiFi isn't included in the packet data counter although it only stores at the most 30 days (if it is the same as the N95).
You can contact vodafone from a landline on 08700 700191
