Like you I purchased the N95 and was optimistic about the SatNav. I have to say it is next to useless. You can travel to most places in the UK before it will locate your position. Then is struggles to keep up with your route progress. The calculated routes are complete nonsense. I've since found out that the GPS chip is actaully a grade 2, which is fairly poor. I have since purchased a TomTom.

You must have got a lemon redman, mine's great, so I've dumped my tom-tom. In order for it to work, the phone needs to be open and under the windscreen - I've noticed it is hitty-missy indoors. Oh and it's better at picking up signal after the firmware upgrade (at least it will be when I get voice navigation back *bangs head*).

hi atiff uk, must say i totally agree with helz im running the latest version of route66 with the latest uk maps and its great, usses the n95's internal gps. gets me to the door evry time, tells me when to turn in plenty of time and even zooms into the map when i come to juntions to give me a bigger picture. i have no problem with the internal gps on the n95 works great, locks on in about 30 to 40 seconds and once it does it never losses the signal. as heltz says check your firmware version later ones speed up the time it takes to lock on to the sat signals, im currently on v20, but saying that never had trouble with earlier firmware versions.

Obviously yours is faulty. Even without A-GPS mine would get a lock in a couple of minutes (behind a thermal windscreen), with A-GPS it's locked before I have my seatbelt fastened.
