Hi All
I have just switched to vodafone at home broadband from BT.
I am trying to get my emails from my usual email address which is a @virgin.net account using mac mail. Have tried all sorts of smpt settings
send.vodafone.net
mail.vodafone.co.uk
smtp.vodafone.co.uk
smtp.vodafone.net
and smtp.vodafoneathome.co.uk
none work just keep getting message "cannot send message using this server"
Any suggestions? This is driving me mad.
Many thanks
Sandy

Hi sandyy,
I hope you had a great Christmas and are looking forward to the new year. I can help with this.
First of all, the correct mail server setting is smtp.vodafoneathome.co.uk. Your username is the full e-mail address you have with the vodafone at home account and the activation code you got when signing up will be your password.
With Vodafone at Home, unfortunately you can only send e-mails from your Vodafone at home e-mail account and not with any other mail accounts.
For further help and support for Vodafone at home, there is a technical support line you can speak with. Just call 191 from your Vodafone mobile or 08700 700 191 from any landline number. We can then transfer you to the team once you select the Vodafone at Home option.
Hope this helps.

Hi
Thanks for the reply.
I do not want to use the vodafone email address I needd to use my *****@virgin.net address is there any way I can set this up? I have phoned vodafone but they just give me the smtp.vodafoneathome.co.uk which I mentioned I have tried.
I am self-employed changing my email address is not an option...better if I change broadband provider.

You could try sending them via the virgin.net server (some still allow sending from outside their network).
Or you could try another email service which will allow you to do what you want. Last time I checked yahoo.co.uk were still allowing you to use SMTP/POP3 with their free email addresses and allowed sending from outside their network. Not sure if they will allow you to use your virgin.net domain though.

Hi Sandyy,
Happy New Year!
You will be able to set it up using your Virgin.net email address, to do this you will need to ask Virgin for the smtp address. Once you have this follow the same process but where you were advised to in put smtp.vodafoneathome.co.uk instead use the Virgin smtp.
Hope this helps.
