Need Help....!!!

Merry Xmas to everyone,
I have recently received an N95 and I've been trying to set up the WLAN with my Sky Broadband box but I'm not being very successful....!!! I have managed to get the phone to recognise the box and it accepts the "key" code but it doesn't seem to want to open the WLAN network to me. I was just wondering if anyone related to this site has the same type of internet set-up as I do and how they configured the phone to use the net from the wireless box.....Do I have to go into the computer side of things and change the settings or is it my phone OR...is it just me being a complete biff....?!!! Any advice or info would be greatly appreciated....!!!

OK I have the same set up as you and a N95 8GB. On the main screen I searched for WLAN and it found the skybox straight away.

It asked for wap key and accepted this as well. Basically no problems at all.

If the main screeen recognises your WLAN what I reccomend you do is go to tools>connectivity>Conn.mgr. Click enter and scroll to available wlan networks. Press open and it should show your sjybox details. Press options and details and check your signal strength. Click OK press options again and define access point. Follow prompts and this should fix your problem.

thanks for the reply, I did what you suggested and it seems to all be set up as intended. Because I'm new to this internet by phone, could you help by giving me simple instructions on how to actually use it in the house....? What I mean is, how do I navigate through the phone to actually get to my WLAN....?
Sorry to be pain but I'm hopeless when it comes to things like this. I fix aircraft for a living and if I can't hit it with a hammer to fix it them I'm screwed...!!!!!

First things first, what N95 do u have, the N95-1 or the 8gb black model. I have the 8gb model.

On the main screen do you have active standby switched on? If you do then you will see 7 icons across the top of your screen and 3 entries underneath these. The third entry will either say skyxxxx found (your sky box) or wlan scanning off. If it shows wlan scanning off just click on it and if your set up works then it will refresh and bring up the skybox details. When it shows your skybox click on it and in the pop up menu click start web browsing.

This should bring up the bookmarks page. I am with Vodafone and none of the vodafone links will use the wlan as they are wap only. Just click on the options button scroll down to navigation options right click and then press go to web address.

The http://www. is already typed in so I would suggest you type in bbc.co.uk as a test. Press go to and it should take you to the bbc website.

Hey presto.

If this doesn't work or if you don't have active standby switched on just post and I will explain how to set this up.
